Showgirls. Millionaires. Murder.
Jack Morgan, head of Private Investigations, the global PI agency of the rich and famous, is being pushed to the limit. His car has been firebombed, his ex is dating someone else, and his twin brother is still out to destroy him.
But Private doesn't rest, and nor do its clients: not the LAPD who need Private's help catching two scumbags with diplomatic immunity, and not the client who has just confessed to murdering his wife.
Add to that Jack's best friend being held on a trumped-up charge that could see him locked away for a very long time, and it seems like all bets are off....

I thoroughly enjoyed this book; as I have all the other Private books. The narration is easy on the ears, I can clearly make out the different characters. He has tempted us with an insight to the slow burning back story with his brother, so By the end of the book he has left me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next story which could be an explosive one, or great if we travel to one of his other offices where we can meet some more interesting staff, clients and baddies.
I enjoy this narrator, the story rolls along well, with the normal Private formula. An easy listen that makes the miles pass easily whilst marathon training.
This is the latest in the Private series so I didn't want it to end as I knew there wasn't another to follow on with. I have read the whole series in 3 weeks whilst doing my 10,000 step walks each day. There are a couple of things from previous books that I believe still need to answered but I am hoping they will be in the next book. I have loved the complete series and can't wait for the next one.
Typical James Paterson (plus one) page turner but it ended suddenly with me feeling cheated. They followed this with a trailer for another book that I will not be reading. Have enjoyed most of the other Private books but this may be my last. The book was very well read.
I really enjoyed this story, as I have all the 'Private' books. Patterson keeps you reading/listening as you want to find out what's going on. Good story.
I wait with anticipation for each of the 'Private' books to be released.
I feel like I know the cast well now but the twists and turns in the plot still keep surprising me and this one, with all the sub-plots was no exception -waiting for the next book now ....
I've listened to a few in the series and really enjoyed them. They've been entertaining with a clear storyline and nice supporting sub plots. However I found this one quite disjointed and didn't get absorbed in the story like I usually do. I found myself re listening to bits as I thought I'd missed a part of the plot but hadn't. I persevered but it felt like a filler rather than a story in its own right.
The story is great then it just ends its as if something better came along so all ends are just tied up randomly disappoint and I am a massive jp & mp fan!
I have read all of the Private novels thus far. They are different, non-formulaic, and full of personality and character. However this novel is possibly the most satisfying because it continues character stories and you revisit the known characters who are getting more interesting. The intricate, & diverse cases, really reflect what you would presume a very busy, successful, high calibre PI firm to do. So there is no one story, all of them are interesting and fulfilling to live through. However the real twist in the tail, is so amusing, shocking, and worthy of the cliffhanger!
Get it. You'll enjoy it!
I thought it was disjointed compared to a usual James Patterson novel.
Going to try a recent Jonathan Kellerman novel.
No, this was ok as a performance.
Don't know I care that much!
I like a bit of pulp fiction for long car journeys and Patterson usually delivers. This however was very disjointed, and when the stories came together it wasn't very satisfying. Felt lazy. Also - was about 4.5 hours before we go to Vegas and then the city itself didn't really feature that much... disappointing. Think I'll give the rest of the Private series a miss.
