"Dalziel and Pascoe Series, Book 14"

Having avidly followed the television series, this was my first read and I enjoyed it just as much, if not more. The characters are so 'real' and the narrator brings them to life beautifully along with the setting. It was very entertaining and funny in places - I actually laughed out loud. I shall certainly be reading other Dalziel and Pascoe.

    "A Great De-al of Delight"

Like the previous reviewer this was my first Dalziel and Pascoe Audio listen. I've read (+ re-read)the whole series by Reginald Hill and wasn't sure if the audio version by one reader would match my expectations. What a pleasant surprise - the narrative bowls along, the characters are distinct and believable - and what a joy are those touches of humour throughout. Loved it - and will be treating myself to more, soon. If you yet have to visit Reginald Hill's Yorkshire - buy yourself this audio book and sit back and enjoy the journey.

    "Another enjoyable read"

I am have become a much bigger fan of Dalziel and Pascoe through listening to the books than watching the television series. I can see in my mind how the village is and the portrayal of people as described and I particularly like to find out more about Sergeant Wield's beginnings of a new relationship.

    "A gem"

I discovered Reginald Hill through his excellent book "The Woodcutter". Having never watched the TV series I was not sure what to expect from Dalziel & Pascoe, but decided to give them a try. I'm now hooked on their exploits and this book is a gem. Colin Buchanan's reading is first class.

    "A Good Listen"

Reginald Hill and Colin Buchanan combine well in this delightful 'Who is going to do it?'
Intrigue, a missing person, a friendly publican who sells an excellent game pie, a pastry cook, bikers and skirmish, the local minister, a beautiful woman, long standing fueds and an annual town get together. Who owns the local school and the minister's residence? Will the town have to sell the Villiage Green to save their school and who will inherit the Squire's property?. Add to this 'the striker' and a garden shed, blood in the car and on the rug and the rich aroma of herbs coming from the bookseller's bathroom and yes 'a picture of perfection' does emerge.
    A good 4 star listen.

    "Perfect"

Each Reginald Hill novel has left me with a wry smile on my lips and a feeling of admiration for a truly literate writer. Pictures of Perfection is one of Hills very best, his demise is a sad loss to the reading public.
