"I loved it !"
Yes I would, It was well written and a great listen. It kept me on the edge of my seat right from the beginning. I have been listening to a lot of wolf shifter romance lately and this was a great change of pace. I hope T.W. decides to write book #4
When the young couple let their secret out, I did not see that coming, after that I didn't trust anybody.
I liked several characters but I would have to say Tom.
Oh my gosh yes, there was never really a time in it when I felt I could take a break from it. It was just a great book.
Thanks T.W. Piperbrook, I loved your book and hoping for a next book !
I have never considered myself a werewolf fiction fan, but this book collection changed that. The story hits the ground running by instantly throwing the reader into a terrifying situation as a man goes from worrying about annoying his wife to fighting for his life. Things only got more intense after that as first one character then another found themselves fighting the elements and creatures out of nightmares. I was constantly on the edge of my seat never knowing who was going to make it and the author consistently surprised me with well timed plot twists. What I loved the most was the authors wonderful ability to "show" rather than tell. I was cuddled up in blankets longing for hot chocolate because just reading the book made me feel as if I was in the middle of a blizzard struggling through the snow with my favorite characters.
"Love it! Werewolves like they're suppose to be!"
This author did something right that allot don't. He was able to kill off main characters without me wanting to throw down my ipod & walk away from the book! Drives me insane when an author kills off a character because he thinks he should not because it is needed for the story. grrrr Horrible storm comes to New England. Town is isolated & storm takes out the powers. Apparently "they" have been waiting for this storm. The main character is "Tom". Not your typical hero. He's in his 50's. NOT an ex police, ex military nor is he ex rambo. Just regular guy. I love it. The story revolves around Tom & his battle with creatures that come out to play when the snow hits. The creatures are how they should be. Violent, scary, huge and everywhere! Tom loses loved ones, friends and saves allot of people. I don't want to give anything away but you'll love it. I did. AWESOME! Can't wait for the next I've listened to 1-3, 4 & 5. Narrator GREAT. You will NOT regret it.
great storyline Piper Brook writes a good story. he is very good keeping suspense and interest
"Excellent, twisted tragedy"
I was looking for a good werewolf book, but 90% of them are Twilight-like romance books for teen girls. Thankfully, I found this book, and it was a fantastic horror novel that really did werewolves justice. The suspense was real, the energy and pacing were frantic, and the twists. Oh, the twists. You won't see them coming, and that makes them all the more valuable.
I almost didn't buy this book based on a few negative reviews, but they were wrong. Those reviewers were obviously just looking for a happy ending, and this book does not provide that. It's a great piece of writing.
"Good late night read"
The story drew me in right away and although parts of it were blatantly far-fetched, the author did a great job of making you believe it. The dialogue was believable, and the atmosphere was very creepy. Perfect for a night cuddled in bed with some hot chocolate. Troy Duran did a pretty good job at narrating, though his voice is a bit too deep/gruff for my personal taste. I'll continue on to the next volume at some point.
"Suspense Emotional Dreadful"
When I saw the first book cover, I knew I was interested but I refused to read a synapse about the book. I finally sat down and read the first 3 books. From the first chapter I couldnt put it down. The story has you going through all types of emotions til the end. I would love to see follow up books in the series as even though it had a satisfing ending, it left open more possibilities. I gave the overall 4 stars as I felt that there is more to see. The books 1-3 should be book 1 with more to come.
I noticed that at times while I was listening I was actually holding my breath! There is no slow build here. The action starts immediately and is consistent. Just enough information on each character that I got to know them a bit but wasn't bogged down with too many boring details. The narrator was perfect! I'm now looking for more from this author, and hoping for more of the same!
"Werewolf stories are not my thing, but I was hooked!"
I enjoyed the way the author took the time to develop the characters but kept back a few surprises.
I dislike gore, but it wasn't too graphic.
The reluctant hero, Tom, was able to concentrate on survival while studying the enemy to learn how to overcome a seemingly unbeatable entity.
I would probably recommend this one to my 20-something kids and teenage grandkids.
"SHE WAS NEXT"
IT HAD PLANS FOR HER
This is three long short stories or novelettes. Each running close to three hours. I loved the first story Outage. Piperbrook showed that he can build suspense with the best of them. If you listened to this I suggest you give it your full attention. You don't want the suspense to be interrupted. The first story also had some real cool twists that I did not see coming. In one chapter we were even able to get into the head of the werewolf. I wish TW could have done more of that. I always like to hear what the bad guy is thinking. The first story got me all excited for the next two stories and I was going to get Contamination, to see if his talents extended to that series. I also like that it is in third person, I don't care much for first person horror stories.
THE QUIET FELT LIKE A SECOND ENTITY
I just could not get into the second story or the third. The main character Tom is just not that interesting. It also was mostly chase scenes. I even saw the twist in book two coming way ahead of time, since it was a rerun of book one. I was surprised though, in the epilogue of book three. Book one is a five star story, so you need to decide if you want to get it separate or get the bundle and take your chances.
The narrator is excellent for this series.
