Summary

Detective Superintendent Roy Grace thinks he's found a serial killer, but not everything is as it seems in Not Dead Enough, by award winning crime author Peter James.

A beautiful socialite is dead. Roy Grace’s leading suspect, her husband, was sixty miles away when she died, but all other evidence points to him. Has someone stolen his identity or is he simply a very clever liar?

Grace’s investigation and his budding new relationship are derailed after a reported sighting of his wife, Sandy, who has been missing for nine years. Grace desperately tries to cast light on the truth in both cases as his emotional turmoil – and the body count – grows...

Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Not Dead Enough is the third thrilling title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Dead Man's Footsteps and Dead Tomorrow.

Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

Underwhelming and too long

Underwhelming in terms of the plot and characters. The rush at the end to tie up the plot was obvious.

Poor narration

I really had to persevere with this one. Bought on offer as a back track from the latest DCI Roy Grace series I had real issues with the narrator. Poor characterisation of key roles not helped by slapdash Chapter intro editing.
Distracted greatly from story.

A little obvious

Not a bad story in the Roy Grace series, but a little obvious in terms of the solution. Some of the situations are a bit annoying, as to how characters respond, but it's worth seeing past that (if you can)

Not thrilling

I tried to get my head round this, but I like the other Peter James titles it just didn’t hit the notes. I ended up skipping through it.

Love Roy Grace

Such a good story. So many twists.
Only one criticism, the South African accent in the latter part of the book is really bad. 🤣

Great story, not well read

Good plot twists but I didn't like the narrator nearly as much as the one in Looking Good Dead and it impacted my overall enjoyment. I wanted to know what happened but it made listening a chore.

Not dead enough

Too many loose ends. Tends to ramble on a bit about unimportant Details.
Good enough story

righteous characters, outdated attitudes...

You might enjoy this book and the attitudes of the 'good people' in it, if you enjoy reading the sun or the daily mail. Simplistic...you can see plot coming for miles...attitude that of a privileged white bloke being pissed of at other people having some rights too. Descriptions of women and men zero-dimensional....
