Like John Grisham and D. W. Buffa, award-winning author J. D. Trafford created a smart legal thriller that keeps the listeners engaged.
Michael Collins burned his suits and ties in a beautiful bonfire before leaving New York and taking up residence at Hut No. 7 in a run-down Mexican resort. He dropped out, giving up a future of billable hours and big law firm paychecks. But, there are millions of dollars missing from a client's account and a lot of people who want Michael Collins to come back. When his girlfriend is accused of murder, he knows that there really isn't much choice.
No Time To Run has been an Amazon top-25 best seller and number-one Amazon legal thriller.

"why audible needs to tell us when self published!"
AND apparently self REVIEWED....author compares self to Grisham. single worst quality recording...in a bathroom???...and narration EVER. DO NOT BE FOOLED. I have respect for authors who try to make their dreams come true, but I want to know when a book is self published so I can choose to make a decision. LISTEN TO SAMPLE before buying...
"Overall, a decent book but the narration is awful."
The book had a few clichés but overall kept you on your toes.
I liked the mystery behind the main character. I was intrigued to find out the how and why of how he was being indicted by the FBI. Also, the murder trial was pretty interesting from the get go with federal lawyers showing up to wisk the trial out of state court so that they could pursue the death penalty in federal court.
With much fear. I'm not sure if its because the story began with the main character in a hang over, but the author seemed to slur words and sound intoxicated during the entire reading. On second thought the reader may have a speech imediment or something but it made the story feel more like it took place in the middle of a drunken haze.
When the main character seemed excited (seriously wtf! If I was the girlfriend that might spell the end of the relationship, he was acting like a trial lawyer not a boyfriend during that entire phase of the book) that the federal lawyers wanted to move the trial to federal court. After the hearing, his explanation to his girlfriend/client had a lot of excitement for a guy who was only back for one case. I knew right then his days in court weren't over and he would make a comeback. On a hunch I googled the book and found there were several sequels that I will probably read. I may listen to it if there is a different narrator.
"Worst Narration I've Come Across"
I read the book and thought it was well-written and very enjoyable before picking it up on Audible when I wanted to listen to it while driving. What a disappointment!! I've dealt with other Audible books that had less than wonderful narrators, but Greg Silva has pushed it to a new low level. He has a very choppy reading rhythm - so much so that he often seems to end a sentence at a comma, then start a new sentence with the following phrase, totally disrupting any flow of the story. I bought the series of these three books from Audible based on my reading of the first one...I'm already waiting anxiously to just get through the first two so that I can hear the different narrator on Book 3. Too bad.
Michael John Collins and sidekick, Kermit, certainly carry the day throughout the novel. Michael seemed adept at his work and the intricacies of the legal world - his ever-stoned companion was a kick to read about. His numerological pursuits were fun to read...and ended up an interesting conclusion to the story. Very interesting!
The storyline was good enough to keep you listening. The quality of the recording was substandard. The narrator seemed to want to "brand" his work with the repetitive use of an unconvincing irritating "laugh". He used that irritating laugh throughout the storyline for every character in the book. Didn't work for me at all.
