Publisher's Summary

A fun cozy mystery - with witches!

Amelia Spelled has had a bad week. Her boyfriend dumps her when she inadvertently gives him food poisoning. Her workplace, a telecommunications center, fires all their staff as they are outsourcing offshore, and she is evicted due to smoke damage resulting from her failed attempts at baking. Amelia thinks her luck has changed when she inherits her estranged aunt's store, two mysterious cats, and beautiful Victorian house.

Yet has Amelia jumped out of the frying pan into the fire? To Amelia's dismay, the store is a cake store, and she discovers that her aunt was a witch. To add to the mix, the house has secrets of its own.

When a man is murdered in the cake store, will Amelia be able to cook up a way to solve the crime? Or will her spells prove as bad as her baking?

All Morgana Best books are clean cozy mysteries.

    ""I am a what?""

If you like cute, funny books then this series is for you. This book starts with poor Amelia loses her boyfriend, her job and her apartment all in one day. What horrible luck or is it. She then finds out she inherits her aunts business and house properties. She finds out her aunts business is baking which Amelia is horrible at. Thank Goodness there is someone to help her. She inherits two cats(familiars) that belonged to her aunt. A man dies in her store. He is actually a murder victim. Amelia and friends start investigating the death themselves. First the police think it is the cup cakes, then natural cause then find out he was poisoned by rat poison from somewhere( not the cup cakes). Will Amelia and friends fine out who killed the man. While all this is going on she finds out she is a witch. What next.

I look forward reading more of these books. I hope more will be put into audio form. I received this book as a gift from the author.

    "Nice clean cozy"

It's really nice to have a writer not rely on mommy porn to sell books. The narrator took a lot of getting used to, brought it down a bit.

    "Awful Narrator"

I feel bad for the author... I couldn't stand listening to the Narrator. Cadences all wrong, most sentences ran into each other and a true lack of story telling abilities. Although I wanted to know more about the story, I couldn't take it anymore, I stopped after chapter 6....

    "Great Book!"
    Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Kitchen Witch series written by Morgana Best and narrated by Tiffany Dougherty. Amelia Spelled has had the worst week ever, she loses her job, her boyfriend dumps her, and then she is evicted from her apartment. She believes that her luck is about to change when she finds out she has inherited her estranged aunts Victorian house, to mysterious cats, and her aunts cake store. Amelia soon discovers that her aunt was a witch. When a man is murdered in the store, she puts her sleuthing skills to work to find the killer. Story
    "meh"

It's the kind of story you wish you could like, but just don't. I found the 'voices' created by the narrator very similar to day-time TV loud whispering - and equally as annoying.
Also, the use of American terms for Australian objects made the author seem very disingenuous. We just don't say those things, so If you please, either make the characters visiting Americans, or place the story somewhere else.
