Here is another highly entertaining short story featuring Jonathan Maberry's compelling hero, Joe Ledger.
This short thriller takes Joe Ledger into the mysterious, troubled town of Pine Deep, Pennsylvania, the setting for Maberry's chilling Pine Deep Trilogy. In Pine Deep, nothing is what it seems.

"get The Missing Files instead"
The Missing Files has this story plus four others, Don't do like I did and waste the money to buy all of them seperate, then the compilation.
"I may have to read Pine Deep"
I love the fact that all of these "Joe Ledger" stories blend. I actually had to go back and write a timeline, including all of the shorts, so I could better follow everything. Material Witness happens early in the series. Follows Zero Tolerance.
My favorite character is always Joe. Does anyone say anything else?
Moved me? Not emotionally in the way you'd think. Creeped me out? Yeah, Jonathan did that to me in this one.
"it caught my attention"
it started off confusing for me as I didn't know what was really going on but quickly explained and the ending was a great hook. I am looking forward to the main event !
"Short stories are not working for me."
Just another way of making money and we buy into it. I could of skipped this without loosing any place in the series.
Maberry's books are exciting. Love them. Porter is a top notch narrator. However, resent using credits for 45minute prequel/sequel.
"Not bonus just excerpts from the novels"
I was thinking these "bonus" storys would be in addition to the novel but, they are cut right out. If you have already listened to the novel then don't waste you money.
True to Jonathan Maberry's style of writing, this short story is gripping and doesn't let you forget it. I was super excited to see my favorite series, the Pine Deep trilogy and Joe Ledger series meet. I was not disappointed at all. The creepy of Pine Deep meeting the action of Echo team from the Joe Ledger series made for an exciting story. The only downside was the fact it wasn't an entire book!! Overall, it was confirmation on why Maberry is hands down my favorite author. Also, Ray Porter's narration was awesome. He actually sounded like I would expect Joe Ledger to sound. Worth every penny and then some.
