Publisher's Summary

"Susan Boyer delivers big time with a witty mystery that is fun, radiant, and impossible to put down. I LOVE THIS BOOK!" - New York Times Bestselling Author, Darynda Jones).

Liz Talbot thinks she's seen another ghost when she meets Calista McQueen. She's the spitting image of Marilyn Monroe.

Born precisely fifty years after the ill-fated star, Calista's life has eerily mirrored the late starlet's - and she fears the looming anniversary of Marilyn's death will also be hers. Before Liz can open a case file, Calista's life coach is executed.

Suspicious characters swarm around Calista like mosquitoes on a sultry low country evening: her certifiable mother, a fake aunt, her control-freak psychoanalyst, a private yoga instructor, her peculiar housekeeper, and an obsessed ex-husband.

Liz digs in to find a motive for murder, but she's besieged with distractions. Her ex has marriage and babies on his mind. Her too-sexy partner engages in a campaign of repeat seduction. Mamma needs help with Daddy's devotion to bad habits. And a gang of wild hogs is running loose on Stella Maris. With the heat index approaching triple digits, Liz races to uncover a diabolical murder plot in time to save not only Calista's life, but also her own.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

i have happily recommended this book to several friends It is a fast paced frothing blend of mystery, coincidence, romance, look-a-likes, and gun play. Oh, and a guardian spirit to boot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lowcountry Bombshell?

A tossup between the first meeting with her new client and the ill-fated ferry back to the island. One is a near perfect start to the book and the other is fate personified.

Have you listened to any of Loretta Rawlings’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to her performance in the first book of the series and loved it. Then she goes all breathy and gives us a really great Marilyn. Great pacing and near perfect characterizations.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Genteel Southern Living Will Rise Again. (or at least we all can hope so....)

    Any additional comments?

Give it and the first book in the series a chance. You will not regret it.

Yes, yes, of course! Loretta Rawlings' southern sounds will lure you in, and keep you begging for more! The storyline moves quickly enough to keep you interested, and the ending is always a shocker!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lowcountry Bombshell?

So many plot twists, hard to pick the one.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The ending.....but I won't spoil it for you

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sweet southern drawl, sexy walk & a big gun!

    Any additional comments?

    "Disappointed."

This southern comfort detective novel does not have the zip and tang to keep me interested. The first novel was very entertaining, but this story was not interesting at all. I still enjoyed the supporting characters. If there is a sale on the series, I will try another book. This one just damped my enthusiasm for the series.

This was an enjoyable read. The characters were engaging and interesting. The plot unfolds in a realistic and fast paced. I like the way Liz interacts with the other characters. I also like that the characters seem like they could be people I know. I recommend this book.

    "Good Cozy, Great Narration"

Susan Boyer does a good job of creating a world to escape to, characters to empathize with, and plots that, if not a bit far-fetched, are entertaining. The narrator does a great job of capturing a Southern voice (at least for the ears of a non-Southerner) and I doubt the books would be quite so appealing to read as they are to listen to, thanks to the voice artistry. The plot captures the allure of small town, big family cocoons where people eat fried food, walk on the ocean and don't seem to worry about paying the bills. The continual reference to sex between Liz and Nate seems gratuitous beyond establishing the power of the attraction, but overall this is a very enjoyable series and I look forward to listening to them all. So many cozy mysteries aren't written well enough to suspend the reader/listener's disbelief and let you take a journey into their world. This one definitely does that. Listen in order as the characters make more sense that way.

As usual Susan M. Boyer has given us another great Liz Talbot Mystery. And along with it she throws in some good ole romance to boot.

    "Great story"

This story was equally as good as other Susan Boyer books.
It was a great story line with a good surprise ending. Humorous lines, a little sex but not too explicit , and dime funny characters .

Would you listen to Lowcountry Bombshell again? Why?

Absolutely, I probably will again before I start the 4th installment

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, I couldn't predict who the killer was and how everything fit together

What about Loretta Rawlings’s performance did you like?

She does a wonderful job with all the character voices and has a nice pace. There's no annoying swallowing sounds or anything like that. She really brings the book to life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Hmmmm...... stopping history repeating?

    Any additional comments?

Such a fun twist having the story parallel Marilyn Monroe's life. Lots of great detail and research went into this book and that's really what made the story. Great growth with main characters and interesting new ones brought in. I loved this book!
