From New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Tyler, writing as S. E. Jakes....
Soldier of fortune Prophet Drews always worked alone - until Tom Boudreaux became his partner. But when Tom walked away three months ago, ostensibly to keep Prophet safe, Prophet learned the true meaning of being alone. Everyone knows that Prophet, a Navy SEAL turned CIA spook turned mercenary, can look after himself. Which means he must've driven his lover away. Even with half a world between them, Prophet can't get the man out of his head. Maybe that's why he's in New Orleans in the middle of a hurricane, protecting Tom's aunt.
But the only looter around is Tom, bursting back into Prophet's life. It turns out that Prophet's been stuck in Tom's head - and heart - too. Their explosive reunion gets even hotter when Tom is arrested for murder. As they fight to clear his name, they delve deep into his past, finding enemies among everyone they meet. Staying alive in such a dangerous world is hard enough, but they soon discover that fighting to stay together is the most difficult thing they've ever done.

"And the greatness continues!"
This is book 2 – we left Tommy and Prophet with Tommy choosing another partner in order to keep Prophet safe. Proph goes off the grid doing odd jobs for a number of months until he gets some emails from Tommy about a hurricane coming to his aunt’s house.
Proph goes to New Orleans to help Tommy’s aunt survive the storm only to find Tommy has come there too. They fall back into their relationship hotter than ever and make up.
While there Tommy gets arrested for a murder he didn’t commit and it’s up to Prophet to get him out of jail.
Meanwhile things are still going on in the John/Sadiq front and that mystery moves forward. But now Tommy knows more about Prophet’s past and his eye problems.
They agree to be a team, even though both are worried about the other’s safety.
The chemistry in this is OFF THE CHARTS – I agree with a reviewer who notes that some of what these guys do may not be physically possible – but it sure as heck is hot!
I am really enjoying this as an audiobook – the narrator totally works for me – and I highly recommend the series and the audiobook. (I also LOVE these covers – so hot!)
5 of 5 stars
"so very good"
love the series Tom and Prophet are one of top ten all time couples. the gators make the book even better and the sex scenes so so hot. the voice so sexy as Tom.
"Alphas & Action"
action, sexy, alpha
ugg too hard
Yes, I think he does a great job with all that I've heard.
I think I would be too intimidated for a dinner date
I love books like this, alpha males and all this excitement. I madly crazy over two cops or agents or military men getting hot and heavy. I don't know if that's an actual trope or genre or category, but it's my favorite whatever that is. The men are so intelligent, strong and capable, and there's so much sexual tension. Their bodies are government weapons, and it's a toss up as to who's the biggest bad[..]. An average person like me could never handle it. They have to crash into someone as formidable as each other to make them consider love. Also I'm really into action books. This has murder, kidnapping, coverups and more
"Not So Much"
I listened to this in hopes it was interesting and different. Not so much. As mentioned in other reviews it has a similar plot to the Abigail Roux series with Tyler and Zane. But this series is not nearly as well written. Many paragraphs of both characters whinning and begging to be let in to the others life. I wanted one of them to walk away permanently. Because it was as if all secrets of black ops missions etc...etc...must be explained immediately. Not attractive traits. These characters were supposed to be well trained but they just kept walking into traps. No smart planning or evidence of the skills the author kept telling us the characters had. SE Jakes please show us they are skilled don't tell us. The evidence will be it's own description.
The narrator was not a good fit for these characters. What was done with Tom's accent was beyond bad. Adam is probably great in a different genre. Not so much here. So, I am getting out of this crazy.
"sexy and suspenseful."
the sex scenes were sooo hot.
I loved getting deeper into Tom's background
Prophet though I really liked Charlie too.
I did laugh in some spots ... Prophet has a way of getting a reaction!
I really enjoyed this story. Tom and Prophet are a hot interesting couple. I am anxious to see more secrets unravel.
If you like mystery/suspense, undercover agents, secrets and hot man-sex you will love this!
This entire series is amazing, but I did love Prophet's interactions with Tom's aunt and the emails Tom wrote to Prophet.
Adam North did an amazing job with this entire series. I can't wait to listen to more books narrated by him. Tom's Cajun accent and Prophet's voice were a nice pairing.
