Publisher's Summary

Helen's most personal case yet as she investigates the shocking and unexpected murder of a close friend found cocooned in plastic. It looks like it was a tragic accident - a sex game gone wrong.

The investigation soon threatens to expose Helen's private life, and she has to make some tough personal choices along the way as she hunts a twisted and elusive killer who is swiftly racking up more murders. As Helen closes in on her prey, a shocking truth is revealed - these murders are part of a calculated attempt to bring Helen down....

    "A totally implausible storyline."
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I am amazed that anyone thought this was good. The story line is totally implausible and fatuous. It was more like a grizzly fairy tale than anything that would happen in real life. It is quite literally a 'story' and not a very good one at that. I was so pleased when it came to an end.

Would you ever listen to anything by M. J. Arlidge again?

    No

Which scene did you most enjoy?

    None

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Still trying to think of something...

    "Rubbish"

It's time that Aldlidge changed the storyline. The first three books were great but now it's complete repetition. Can there not be a crime that Helen Grace investigates that isn't about her . This is the last Helen Grace book I will read .

    "Disappointing!!!"

I was looking forward to this next Helen Grace book, but I feel let down in some way. The story was weak it just got going at the end!! I'm assuming there is another book to Finnish this story,

"I Won't be Coming Back For More"
Would you ever listen to anything by M. J. Arlidge again?

    No, it's not for me.

What aspect of Elizabeth Bower’s performance might you have changed?

    The performance was fine.

    Any additional comments?

It all seemed very well researched into the BDSM scene... probably, but I'm afraid I just couldn't get into this book at all. I didn't like any of the characters, who all seemed like stereotypes, and the story failed to draw me in. It seems as though you would benefit from listening to all of the books in the series in order, as there are several allusions to them, but I wouldn't invest my time in that. Don't let me put you off if you've listened the others previously, I'm sure if you liked those then this is right up your alley, but it's not a good starting point to enter the series.

I am so angry to have wasted my time on this book. The ending was a slap in the face. I will not bother with this author again.

"ANNOYING: Doesn't stand on it's own"
What would have made Little Boy Blue better?

Sequels are well and good, but a book SHOULD stand alone without prequels or sequels, this one does not. The the perpetrator of the crimes comes from nowhere without the prequel. Lazy writing!

What will your next listen be?

    None of this series!!!!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

ANNOYANCE. Unless a book is clearly in parts, I do not expect to read more than that book to get the whole story.

    Any additional comments?

This book should be marked as part of a whole, it cannot stand alone.

    "DISAPPOINTING"
Would you try another book written by M. J. Arlidge or narrated by Elizabeth Bower?

    NO. Had enough

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

THE PLOT SEEMED GOOD AT FIRST. THEN IS GOT RATHER SILLY AND FULL OF COINCIDENCES

What aspect of Elizabeth Bower’s performance might you have changed?

THE DESCRIPTIVE NARRTION IS OVER FLOWERY AND LONG WINDED

Was Little Boy Blue worth the listening time?

    NOT REALLY

    Any additional comments?

I have followed this series of books and they have now got irritating and far fetched.. Too melodramatic in content - and the narration is too 'prissy' and I am now fed up with it.

Another excellent Helen Grace book!! How does MJ Arlidge do it?!
Although from the synopsis indicates that the killer is out to get Helen Grace you are drawn in from the get go and feel sure you know who it is only to find it is someone else!
What will happen to Helen now? How will she turn this around!
    Brilliant! Just brilliant!

    "Little Boy Blue"

This was an Audible 'Deal Of The Day', so I didn't really know what to expect. It's the fifth book in the Portsmouth-based DI Helen Grace series. It started well and some of the BDSM descriptions were a bit 'fruity'. I think that I could determine that this was written by a male author, as Helen was a bit of a fantasy figure in many ways.

The police procedural plot was good, as was the pace, punctuated by short, snappy chapters. The book did, however, come to an abrupt halt on a cliffhanger.

    The narrator was excellent throughout.

    "Warning! It's a cliffhanger!"

I enjoyed the book, but was so disappointed in the ending. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, I did a little digging and "Hide & Seek" will be released September 8, 2016 in the UK, so hopefully it'll be available in the US shortly afterwards. You may want to wait till then and read them in quick succession.
Onto the book, I continue to enjoy Helen Grace, but am tiring of Anita G. She's become predictable and uninteresting.
I don't want to spoil the story, but found the villain to be both predictable and not believable. With that being said, I will purchase the next one.
