Pain, horror, fear - these are the things that have comprised best-selling novelist Lance Metzger's life. His childhood remains a riddled wasteland of abuse by a sadistic father and abandonment by an apathetic mother. In turn his only refuge became his writing.
When Lance loses his ability to write and becomes haunted by a nightmare that he'd thought was buried, he is drawn inexplicably to a house on the shores of Lake Superior, where he finds his muse once again - but something is waiting for him when he arrives. Now he must unlock the devastating secrets that the house holds and uncover the mystery of his own broken past before he loses his sanity - and perhaps his soul.

Love life, love being happy.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A good plot, and good characters. I felt the narrator did an excellent job keeping the suspense all the way through.
"Lots of gore but good story"
Love the story loved the intertwining plot and ending was amazing. The Gore was unnecessary and seem to just take up pages. Otherwise a good story and I'm very glad I got it
"Very shocking thriller start to finish "
The first three chapters were the best. hard to become more intense after that. Ending came fast and a little loose, but nothing terrible. A few loose ends I don't think tied. loved how the tired his lineage to the beginning chapters.
This is the best horror novel that I have read in ages! It is perfect!
"Fantastic book . Shared it with a friend."
Great novel. Love love loved it! Had to share this with my friend. Couldn't stop listening to it.
"A great ghost Mystery you cannot put down!"
Should be a classic ghost thriller. This is one of Hart's best books. I highly recommend it to those who love scary ghost stories.
I never write reviews but this book was a "could not put down, thriller". I love a good scare and this book had that and more. Well worth the money.
I work from home, and love audiobooks to keep me on track, I'm super ADHD, and this was the ticket. I didn't want to stop working so I could just keep listening. Thanks for the great story. Well done! And - the narrator was spot on!
"Slow to start.."
But picks up around chapter three. A bit more horror than I usually like but the was a great ghost story! One that mingles history with resolution, the way all good ghost stories should be.
I don't like writing book reports... or reviews as you call them today but this audio book is a good lisren.
This book kept my attention the entire time. At first, it was hard to see where it was going, but everything came together and it wasn't at all obvious. The story was well written and creepy, in a good way. The narrator did a very good job and I found his tone very easy to follow. I truly recommend this one! It's a great ghost story that will keep you wanting more.
