Publisher's Summary

With sweating hands, Alison Shaw stared nervously into the giant seawater tank. One year ago, she and her team of marine biologists had stunned the world with an incredible breakthrough. Now they were about to do it again. And this time, they were ready.

But an ocean away, something strange was unfolding. Along a lonely coast in South America, an experimental Russian submarine - long thought to have been dismantled - has suddenly resurfaced. And the US Navy has taken notice, sending John Clay and Steve Caesare to investigate.

They discover the sub has been quietly studying a group of soldiers making mysterious trips into the jungle under the cover of darkness. The group has discovered something...something big.

And what Clay and Caesare uncover next is the last thing anyone expects. The discovery of the century has been made...and someone is ready to fight for it.

"A Leap from author to Good author"
    Any additional comments?

I liked the last book, now I'm beginning to really like this author. To be self-published is the only problem with him....a publisher better grab him up before it's too late! I have a feeling he's going to get better and better. In fact, this series has a lot of promise...the characters are well developed and not only memorable but like-able...I could follow them thru many a book. He has given them all the pieces to be diverse enough to do about anything..from the president of the U.S., head of NSA, Dept of Defense, CIA (always incompetent), agents, animal/people interest, geologist, aliens, biologists, whew and I could go on..it's not boring! Tragedy: Audible hasn't got the 3rd book in series..if it's not out yet, ok...if it is then hey Audible...Get it recorded or you're gonna have some unhappy listeners here! I may have to actually leave for awhile to "read" a book..yeah, he's going to be that good.Oh, the narrator, not bad for a woman reading many male characters. In the first book I really liked the way she recorded phone calls that made it feel realistic, she didn't do that this time so that's a lil negative...but I still didn't get aggravated with her voice like I do many a reader who reading the opposite sex begins to sound like all one person. Never heard her before but pleasing voice...

    "Awesome series"

I started with Breakthrough and continued with Leap and very excited to download Catalyst. The narration is perfect. Meghan does a wonderful job. The story is intriguing and keeps you hooked from beginning to end.

    "Utterly fascinating contemporary science fiction!"

Leap is Book 2 in the three book Breakthrough series. Book 3, Catalyst, is scheduled for release on June 14, 2016, but the audiobook will likely come later. This Leap audiobook includes approximately one hour of Catalyst.

The Breakthrough is about scientific breakthroughs coming from the efforts of several scientists and their teams. I will not give more away than that. It is a wonderful action series that is totally appropriate for all ages beginning as young as 7 or 8 years old. The series could easily be marketed as YA science fiction.

Michael C Grumley may well be destined for becoming a great author of fiction.

Leap and the Breakthrough series has my highest possible recommendation. The series reminds me somewhat vaguely of Hunger Games series and Divergent series, but without the prior apocalyptic events.

    "Good story and well written."

I cannot imagine why this has to be self published. The publishing houses who rejected this book should be ashamed. It is entertaining. The characters are sufficiently well developed. It hits well on all marks.

My 9 and 11 year old would get ready for school early just to have more time in the morning to listen to this book with me. Both the content and the characters were the subject of great discussions with them.

    "Not bad, but..."

I was pretty hooked after "Breakthrough," but didn't feel that it's sequel did the storyline justice. I thought that with the shocking revelations and events from book one that surely the storyline would continue to focus on these, but the minor inclusion at Leap's conclusion felt like an afterthought to me.

I also feel the narrator lacks the appropriate range for this type of work, with an over-the-top genteel delivery. This is not how professionals and colleague speak to each other. I felt that this contributed more to a Scooby-Doo, serial sort of feel to the storyline.

That said, there are some great elements to Mr Grumley's writing. The connection he draws between disparate intelligences - especially the animal kingdom - is refreshing in this genre. It's frustrating when an author lacks subject matter experience, but I didn't pick up on that in Leap or Breakthrough. His knowledge and use of nautical concepts - while certainly not overly detailed - were accurate in my estimation.

    "intriguing story"

I liked the story, good characters and wild story lines. this is the second book in this series, I did not know that, and although it was OK and can be a stand a lone book, I think it would be helpful to find the first story. I am moving on to the second one now. Good narrator too.

Desperately tried to listen to this one. I could not get into at all. Calling the characters one dimensional would be a compliment. Don't waste your money.
