When a young girl is found dead in the mountains outside Timber Creek, lifelong resident Officer Mattie Cobb and her partner, K-9 police dog Robo, are assigned to the case that has rocked the small Colorado town.
With the help of Cole Walker, a local veterinarian and single father, Mattie and Robo must track down the truth before it claims another victim. But the more Mattie investigates, the more she realizes how many secrets her town holds. And the key may be Cole's daughter, who knows more than she's saying. The murder was just the beginning, and if Mattie isn't careful, she and Robo could be next.
Suspenseful and smart, Killing Trail is an explosive debut that will have listeners clamoring for more Mattie and Robo for years to come.

"For GSD or any dog-lover as well as crime fans"
Love the relationship between K-9 Robo and his handler Cobb. Author definitely understands the male German Shepherd. Excellent character development, mystery part was OK. Learning how a K-9 works was fascinating. I really enjoyed this and will continue on to the next one. Some complained about narrator's pacing. I listened at 1.25 speed, which is my usual speed, and she sounded find to me.
"Fell in Love with Robo"
When I saw that this was a debut novel, I had low expectations but couldn't resist a K-9 story. I was surprised and amazed how much I enjoyed the characters and the plot.
Mattie was engaging, smart and extremely likable and of course Robo stole my heart. I am already looking forward to the next book.
"Fun but a bit cliched"
I enjoyed the novelty of a crime novel with a dog since I am a dog lover, but the book was quite full of stereotypes and cliches. Enjoyable but nothing spectacular.
"Needs a stronger heroine"
Good characters, but main character agonizes over everything and her lack of confidence is annoying and boring. Too many cliche situations (cell phone left in the car, flashlight batteries failing) make her seem stupid as well.
"Killing Trail, Timber Creek Book 1"
This book was very well written and narrated. Nevertheless I rated the Story with 4 stars because it was sprinkled with what I consider to be category 1 profanity. That is, there were no f-bombs but their favorite four letter word was "s", with a few "sobs" thrown in. The overall story and narration out weighed that distraction, hence my overall rating is 5 stars.
"Exciting first book in new series"
When I read the description and read the main characters were a female officer and a K9, I was intrigued. The story was very well written and the narration spot on. I highly recommend this book and hope to have a second in the series soon.
Terrific, complex characters and great storyline. Love dogs and a good mystery! I've already purchased Book 2!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A true love and respect for a work dog and his companion. And a great who done it.
"K 9 murder mystery series"
there was nothing jaw dropping about this book but I really liked it; very well developed characters and story line, and for any animal lovers out there the K9 and training was pretty great; makes me want to read the next book to see what happens to these characters; the author drew me in and without extreme rape and gore; the narrator did an excellent job; good with accents also; I always knew which character was speaking; can't wait to "read" the next book.
"loved the story . The story flowed very well."
The story gave just the right amount of the case that it still made you question who had done it.
