Publisher's Summary

A child is killed after falling from the Humber Bridge. Two young brothers are found guilty and sent to prison. Upon their release they are granted anonymity.

Probation officer Cate Austin is responsible for Humber Boy B's reintegration into society. But the general public's anger is steadily growing, and those around her wonder if he deserves to keep the secret of his identity. Cate's loyalty is challenged when she begins to discover the truth of the crime. Is a child capable of premeditated murder? Or is there a greater evil at play?

What the Critics Say

"Twisty, profound and completely convincing, it grips the reader by the heart. Unputdownable." (Erin Kelly)

"Sad, chilling and horrifying, Humber Boy B is extraordinary." (Elizabeth Forbes)

"This superbly written, distressing story explores the background to the final dreadful act and the fallout afterwards. The plot twists and turns on the way to a nail-biting finale. A compelling read." (The Sun)

"That's the real mark of good writing: it makes you care about the characters. Dugdall's experience comes to the fore in her ability to keep all of her characters, whatever else they are, very human. Gripping and emotionally engaging." (The BookBag)

"Within reading the first chapter of this stunning novel by Ruth Dugdall, I was hooked.... I read this novel in a day because I simply couldn't put it down. The length is just long enough to explore 'Ben' and his story fully and ends on a perfect note, so you are satisfied you've gotten the entire story out." (Ramblings Magazine)
