    "Not my genre"

I didn't realize this was Christian fiction when I got the book. The story was good, I liked the characters but there were just too many references to God and whether you should believe in Him or not for me to really enjoy it.

But if that's what you enjoy when listening to books then you will probably enjoy this one.

"Good, for a first novel, plus one."

This is a decent book, especially for first novel (I hope that is what this is). I look forward to seeing how the skills of the author progress.
I felt the storyline flowed, and there were a few twists and turns that were unexpected. I increased the rating by one star, because I REALLY appreciate a clean story! I also wish there was less romance and more of simply friendship building. I appreciate friendship building, but not everything rotates around love.

I don't have any problem with a story that adds Christian themes, and even though this does throw a little in, really it isn't much. Not compared to other books I have read.

The narrator seemed inexperienced, and (hopefully) will improve over time. There were several instances of mispronounced words, page turns are distinctively evident, and a few times that she repeated a sentence immediately after a brief pause. Speaking of which, there are several times, most of which were in the first part, where there were distinctively long, unaccounted for pauses.

Overall, I will try the next book in the series.

    "Page turning literally and figuratively"

Great book! Very interesting and well written but the performance was not edited and in some parts repeated. You could also clearly hear the reader turning pages. Outside that it was great

    "A decent plotline poorly narrated"
What would have made Hazardous Duty better?

More expression in the voice of the narrator. She reads almost every line in the same tone of voice.

What could Christy Barritt have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Made the heroine a little less pushy. Or given her qualities which made up for it.

How could the performance have been better?

See above. More expression and more sense that the sentences flow into each other.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hazardous Duty?

    Umm.. none come to mind.

    Any additional comments?

Change the narrator and I might buy the next one.

"Where's the rest of the Series?"

I really liked this book, but the only other of the series of 11 on Audible is book 3. I prefer to listen to them in order. When will the rest be available?

"Almost as exciting as C S I on TV"

The redhead is the person who cleans up crime scenes . She finds herself involved in investigating the crime scene itself . She finds herself threatened by the murderer . And she gets romantically involved with two significant heroes. This story is well worth the reader's time .

    "Unprofessional recording"
Would you consider the audio edition of Hazardous Duty to be better than the print version?

    No

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Sometimes. It was an interesting story and I wanted to know what would happen next, but it felt a little juvenile and simplistic.

How could the performance have been better?

The reader was really annoying at first and I had such a hard time getting into the book because of it. She read everything so quickly and it made me feel stressed. Plus, you could hear her turning pages, clearing her throat, sounded like maybe she was chewing gum part of the time, etc.

    "Okay story, flawed performance"

Janet Campus has a pleasant voice but makes some serious flaws in her recording: unexplained pauses, whispering to herself, mispronounced word, stopping and restarting without editing out repeated words. The story itself is intriguing and entertaining. Another reviewer complained that there's a Christian message as the story unfolds and called it "unwelcome." Too bad for him. What part of "squeaky clean" don't they understand?

    "Poor narrator"

I am an avid book listener. Of all I've listened to, this narrator is amongst the worse. She has no acting skills whatsoever and the voices she chooses to use are laughable. I finished it only because I paid for it.
