Summary

Invited to a Private View of the work of controversial artist Denzil Willoughby, the good citizens of Fethering are not quite sure what to expect. And it certainly turns out to be a lively affair, culminating in a confrontation between Willoughby and his ex-lover, followed by a heated argument with the gallery owner and a rival artist. But what no one could have anticipated was that the evening would end in sudden, violent death. While the police seem happy to accept an official verdict of suicide, Fethering residents Carole and Jude remain unconvinced. Deciding to investigate further, Carole and Jude soon discover that the answers lead only to more questions – and that at least one Fethering resident has a dark secret to hide.

More please!

Have read all the Fethering mysteries but this is my favourite so far. Made all the better by an excellent narration by Simon Brett himself! A perfect audio book experience and here's hoping Simon narrates the next one himself too.

Hugely enjoyable!

If like me, you love Brett's 'Carol and Jude' series you will enjoy this. I have never read these novels but they are a hugely enjoyable listen. Fun, easy and rather silly but you cannot help getting invoved in the Fethering lives of the sleuthing duo. This is definitely not the best in the series and I thought the plot and characterisation was weaker than usual. However it is brilliantly narrated as ever by the author and still hugely enjoyable.

Love this series

Another great instalment following Jude snd Carol as they solve a murder. As always a cast of wonderful characters. Written with humour with suspense. The author narrates and does a great job too.

another good one

the narration brings the characters alive and they are very believable. I know people just like them in my small part of the Coast.

Another winner

I love these books and having them read by the author is brilliant. Very easy to listen to and enjoyable to try and work out ‘whodunnit’. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Loved it!

Simon Brett's narration of his own work as it was meant to be 'read' was fabulous! His development of his characters is just superb! I'm nervous about only having 7 in the series left to read/listen to!

Enjoyable Fethering romp

I do enjoy these stories, sometimes the willingness of witnesses to answer questions by essentially two nosey middle aged women stretches credulity but Simon Brett's narration is always divine.

Another brilliant listen

I love this series . On the face of it , bright breezy easy read mysteries . Delve a little deeper to find expertly drawn characters with depths and recognizable traits that make you feel so part of the plot that you find yourself thinking “I know what Carol Seddon” will think about that . hugely entertaining and brilliantly narrated.
