    "Fabulous"

I listen to a lot of crime/thriller books on here and I suppose I am always drawn to authors that are well reviewed and notable, therefore for me this was a risk...but I am so glad and so thrilled to find a book that was entertaining and with believable characters and brilliant dialog. It's a must and I will definitely seek out more by Tana French and anything read by Gerry O'Brien will get my vote...he is nothing short of excellent!! Thank you !

    "Pacey and Irish"

Being from Dublin, I probably enjoyed this book more than someone who is not. But its such a buzz after years of listening to American murder mysteries to hear one in local accents based on totally believable, dysfunctional stereotypical characters. The book itself gets straight to the point and packs more than a few punches. Thoroughly enjoyable escapist stuff.

    "More than a crime novel"

Having enjoyed the author's excellent crime novel, Broken Harbour, I hoped this would be as good: and it is. Although the narrative is carried along by the investigation of a crime perpetrated 20 years earlier, the book offers much more. It is highly evocative of Dublin life and its inhabitants of different generations. The listener is drawn into the lives of the characters such that I felt I was hearing about real people. A feeling reinforced by the immediacy of the dialogue given different voices by the excellent narrator.

    "Brilliant"

This book was so good I didn't want it to finish. I miss the voice of Gerry O'Brien now. He was wonderful to listen to. The story was great. I wish I could listen to it again as new.

    "Another excellent Tana French"

Having listened to Broken Harbour, I thought nothing could be as good, however I think Faithful Place was better. Another brilliant narration lifted the story, and the characters were brought to life really well. The plot developed well and I was really sorry when I reached the end.

    "Loved the story, great narrator"
Where does Faithful Place rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    One of the best

What did you like best about this story?

Loved the characters, the mystery and the relationships and the twists and turns in a great story.

What does Gerry O'Brien bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Gerry made this book for me. He was so nice to listen to, loved his accent and he read it so well. I looked to see if he had narrated any more and was a bit disappointed to find he hadn't done any more of Tana French books.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did love this story. I listened continuously for hours, couldn't wait to hear what happened next.

    Any additional comments?

I loved these characters, I really wanted to read some more, follow these characters, but as far as I know there are no follow up books. Perhaps in the future?

    "Fab listen"

I loved this book, so much about Ireland and a few families and their lives. The story was very good kept reading it as I could not stop. The narrator was also very good, could listen to him for ages.

I enjoy reading but never find the time to pick up a book so Audible has been a great find! Addicted to good detective crime books!

    "Excellent listen"

One word fab! I'm so glad I picked this after reading the reviews - thank you to the reviewers! This is my 2nd Tana French book - 1st one was great and Hugh Lee was very very good so dubious with a different narrator but all concerns gone - was brill!

Great narration - thoroughly brill listen and Gerry O'Brien does an excellent job. Not your usual thriller with the gore- a great whodunnit that keeps you hooked to the end and some great characters you get to know.

Not my normal listen and surprised myself! All in all well recommended listen.

    Story
    "Good but ..."
Would you try another book written by Tana French or narrated by Gerry O'Brien?

This is the third Tana French I've tried to get into. The underlying story is good (as were the others) BUT there's too much other stuff going on. Very much how to fit a five hour story's into ten hours (or more!). The narrator works really hard to keep the interest going but sometimes even he flags. These books I use as 'fill ins' when I'm waiting for the next credit to appear in my account.

Would you recommend Faithful Place to your friends? Why or why not?

    If they had the sustainability.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Narration was gallantly undertaken.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The underlying story - the murders and who did them - was good but you had to wade through an awful lot of other stuff to get there.

    Any additional comments?

Not a 'fast moving pacey story'.

    "Great Reader"

Gerry O Brien is one of the best audio book readers, but the book didnt grab me half as much as Broken Harbour. It started well, but I found the family a bit tedious after a while, although the characters were well rounded and well written, the plot failed to surprise.

    "predictable ending"

written in the first person, the main character tends to repeat himself and his feelings quite a lot. it is a bit rambling, and by the time it gets interesting, you`ve very likely managed to work out the guilty party for yourself. also, the story and the cast are not coherent or harmonious. I would not recommend buying it, although i liked tana french`s "in the woods" a lot.
