Publisher's Summary

Moved by the injustice inflicted on a missionary family in the Middle East, young hotshot attorney Brad Carson files an unprecedented civil-rights suit against Saudi Arabia and the ruthless head of the Muttawa, the Islamic Religious Police. The lawsuit unleashes powerful forces that will stop at nothing to vindicate the Arabian kingdom.

Now, as Brad navigates a maze of treachery and deceit, he must gamble his case, career, and the lives of those he loves - including his beautiful and talented co-counsel, Leslie Conners - on the ability of his team to bring justice to one family, challenge the religious intolerance of a nation, and alter the course of international law. He must find a way to accomplish this despite insurmountable odds.

What the Critics Say

"There is plenty of room in evangelical Christian fiction for fresh voices, and debut novelist Singer is a promising one....Legal thrillers are gaining ground in the evangelical Christian market, and this is an agreeable addition to the genre." (Publishers Weekly)

    "Wow...timely"

This book was even better than By Reason of Insanity. It moved quickly, kept me on the "edge of my seat," and kept me listening when I ought to have gotten out of the car or gone to sleep. Singer gives some insight into the ins and outs of the legal system, especially as he ties it to how the State Department sometimes works overtime to protect America's "allied nations" (in this case Saudi Arabia), as they try to hide their illegal activities against Americans. Can't wait to read more of his books.

    "A Great Thriller!"
What made the experience of listening to Directed Verdict the most enjoyable?

I'm a Randy Singer fan & he outdoes himself once again! It's a great thriller story with many twists & turns. I had a hard time putting this book down.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Directed Verdict?

The colorful characters kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through the entire book. Every time I thought I knew what would come next, I was totally surprised.

What does Cameron Beierle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice was perfect for keeping the suspense of the story. I liked his inflections & suspense-FULL voice.

If you could rename Directed Verdict, what would you call it?

    It's a perfect title

    "If You Like Legal..."

If you enjoy courtroom action, then you'll like Randy Singer's "Directed Verdict." The plot is very plausible, especially in our current world. There are enough twists and turns to keep one guessing. And Singer's manner of presenting the Gospel is handled in a genuine fashion ... direct, but not obnoxious.
Cameron Beierle is a capable narrator. I felt that he sometimes got his characters confused, but rarely enough so as not to kill the book for me.

    "alonzo"

A slow start however it became interestin g. There were a number of errors as these apply to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, conversion let alone maintaining anything approaching a viable "Church " would be impossible. It would be great if the legal system recognised it's potential for error (as set down in the book), unlikely however, on he whole an entertaining book, one I'm not sorry I purchased

    "mark with a fish"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I would be grateful to audible if you would mark books that have a Christian message with a fish or cross so that those of us who do not want to receive a subtle sermon with our mysteries and cloaks and daggers can avoid these books. I also assume that there are listeners who would appreciate knowing which books are particularly sympathetic to their beliefs and so such labels would be doubly useful.
This is the second or third time I have gotten one of Randy Singers books and had to return it. So I'd like to suggest to Audible that you devise some way we can categorize books or authors or narrators just for our personal use.
There are so many books that are worthwhile to me--and I appreciate those books might not appeal to others--yet the choices of books just increases daily. When I want a good book quickly---as I did today--it would be great if I did not have to yet again be disappointed. Yes, the wish list is there but it is not refined enough for what I have in mind.
