In the privacy of her own home, and against her will, Susan Harris will experience an inconceivable act of terror. She will become the object of the ultimate computer's consuming obsession: to learn everything there is to know about human flesh.

It is quite a rare moment when I prefer a movie to the book original, but this re-working of the original does not meet the usual standards of the author. The narrator lacks the ability to keep the interest of the listener. Whether this is because he is trying too hard to be inhuman, or because the material itself lacks a spark, I can only let you decide. Not a book I would recommend listening to. 1 star for spelling the author's name right.
"I liked it!"
Did the other reviewers read the description before buying? This is a very early Koontz book that has been re-released. If you listen knowing it was written in the 70's you will like it too.
It was interesting to hear Koontz talk about the history of this work, his experience with the movie studio, and the new release.
This is a type of story that has been told in different versions before, but this has to be the creepiest I have run across so far. Funny strange and disturbing. Well done.
"Worst Koontz Ever!"
I am a big Dean Koontz fan. I have listened to all of the ones that have been put out on audio. This was a big disappointment. I turned it off after about an hour and do not plan on listening to the rest. Have they run out of good Koontz books to put on audio? I see the other new one is getting bad reviews also. What gives?
If Audible let us give half stars that is what I would have done. It was the the worst Dean Koontz book I've ever read. I couldn't even finish it. A first for a Koontz book for me.
"Creepy tale from Koontz' early sci-fi period"
Good, but thankfully short. I like Christopher Lane from his readings of Darkfall and several of the Frankenstein series, but the computer voice got tiresome.
"Not his best."
I love Koontz but this book was not his best in my opinion. I kept waiting for something good to happen and it left me hanging a bit.
"Not great Koontz"
This is not as bad as The Vision but it is not good. It has some wilder unbelievable aspects and less development of relationships.
Poor writing, didnt capture my attention in comparison to the movie. The story didnt flow, difficult to follow.
monotone and repeative, Difficult to follow
