Summary

Cocasse, plus tragique que macabre, avec une intrigue de plus en plus touffue, un magnifique Fred Vargas où tout savoir mis en commun permet de résoudre les énigmes les plus étranges.

Un hêtre peut-il pousser en une seule nuit dans un jardin, rue Chasle à Paris, sans que personne l'ait planté ? Oui. Chez la cantatrice Sophia Siméonidis ; et elle n'en dort plus. Puis elle disparaît sans que cela préoccupe son époux. Après une série de meurtres sinistres, ses trois voisins "dans la merde", aidés par l'ex-flic pourri Vandoosler, découvriront les racines du hêtre, vieilles de quinze ans, grasses de haine et de jalousie.

On retrouve ici les qualités et l'humour de la série des "Évangélistes" de Fred Vargas, largement saluée dans la presse.

Cette autre série 'les évangélistes ' est tout simplement géniale ! les personnages sont très attachants (comme toujours avec Fred Vargas) et c'est ce qui fait l'originalité des ces enquêtes !

I love the author, her humour and her stories. Her characters are odd and funny. The narrator is brilliant.
