Summary

It's a race against time as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace tries to stop a grieving mother from taking the law into her own hands in Dead Man's Grip, by award winning crime writer Peter James.

A university student is killed in a tragic traffic accident while riding their bicycle. When two of the drivers involved are hunted down by a sadistic killer, Grace knows that the third driver, Carly Chase, may be next.

Carly, a solicitor, believes hiding is not an option and heads to New York to speak with the cyclist’s mother. But Grace knows about the mother’s underworld connections and that the family will stop at nothing to take an eye for an eye . . .

Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Dead Man's Grip is the seventh thrilling title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Not Dead Yet and Dead Man's Time.

Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

Another enjoy story in the series

Another enjoy story in the series. New narrator, which I was slightly better I think. Great story, loved the hitman theme.

Great book. Much Enjoyed

Okay. I've been binge reading this series one after the other from volume one. I've enjoyed all the books so far but I felt like my interest was getting a tad bit stale. I have this a go as I was about to start work and couldn't be bothered to search elsewhere but lucky I did. My enthusiasm for this series has roared back. This book was fantastic. Couldn't stop listening. The pace was good, really appreciated the fresh narrator as he brought a new vibe to the series. The story was well out together. Can't say enough without giving anything away but this book is highly recommended. I've downloaded a different book from my wish list for my well earned break, but after that this book is the one that will have me back in a heartbeat. Nice nice book.

Great narrator

Very slow to start but the last third of the book at a much better pace. Loved Jamie Glover as the narrator, one of the best I've listened to, sp much so that I have searched other books he has narrated and bought a couple.

Exciting but a couple of niggles.

SIBILANCE! Argh!! Glad this guy has only done this book and no more. I very nearly gave up on a good story because of his sibilance, especially for the first half of the book. It was more under control after that. The Tooth character was a bit inconsistent. He was obviously meant to be an unfeeling, detached psychopath that "didn't do caring" but he obviously cared for his dog. Also for someone so fastidious and meticulous in his planning he was stupid enough to leave his Lucky Strike cigarette butts wherever he went? Bit convenient. And considering the guy is a deadly weapon Glen Branson got away conveniently lightly.

Narrator change, excellent listen

Excellent running story for key characters, initially didn't like narrator change, annoyed as hadn't realised, it became irrelevant due to story and performance

Thoroughly enjoyed it

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.Peter James has a way of keeping your absolute attention. The main character Roy Grace features in many Peter James novels and his personal life is a main vein through out. The narrators voice is easy on the ear and i would definately recommend this book.

Gripping and thrilling

Found this book one of the most interesting and as usual enjoyed the dynamic between Grace and Branson. I found the story gripped me from the beginning ( a little like the title) and carried me along to the conclusion. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend.
