Summary

On a sultry afternoon in 1936, a woman accidentally interrupts an attempted murder in a London hotel room. Nina Land, a West End actress, faces a dilemma: She's not supposed to be at the hotel and certainly not with a married man. But once it becomes apparent that she may have seen the face of the man the newspapers have dubbed "the Tie-Pin Killer", she realises that other people's lives could be at stake.

Freya's poorer prequel

Bought this having listened to the marvellous 'Freya'. It's set 10 years earlier, maybe written 10 years earlier as it's a very different kettle of fish. Much more of a period whodunnit, glad I read Freya first (which is very highly recommended) as this would not have lured me in.

Relaxed murder mystery

This is an enjoyably gentle murder mystery set between the wars in London. There are some interesting characters and you feel yourself part of the bonhomie of the actors/writers circle. The murder plot doesn’t cause too much challenge but adds a little intrigue. It’s quite light so I only gave it 4 stars but I immediately downloaded the 2 sequels

Gripping story

The story was great with some good interlinking characters! The twists and turns of the plot.

character addiction.

I read Freya first which is a follow up to this book I believe and I was thrilled to find some of the same characters. I really enjoyed this book also and would highly recommend it.

Brilliantly read

I liked it in the end. Took a while but it's brilliant. And lovely. And forgiving.
