Summary
Once upon a time, not so long ago, a monster came to the small town of Castle Rock, Maine.... He was not a werewolf, a vampire, a ghoul, or an unnameable creature from the enchanted forest or snow wastes; he was only a cop....
Cujo is a huge Saint Bernard dog, the best friend Brett Camber has ever had. Then one day Cujo chases a rabbit into a bolt-hole. Except it isn't a rabbit warren anymore. It is a cave inhabited by rabid bats. And Cujo falls sick. Very sick. And the gentle giant who once protected the family becomes a vortex of horror inexorably drawing in all the people around him....

Mommy!!!!
Great book, really enjoyable storyline. Awful Awful Awful narration, when the narrator says 'Mommy' in the little boys voice I genuinely wanted to peel the skin off my own face.

class story
loved the story hated the narrator. left this book for so long because I didn't think I would like a horror story about a dog but ....... it was King at his best brilliant book as for the narrator some of the voices weren't great to be honest definitely not my favourite narrator

Sheer perfection
The paperback version of this book has been sitting on my bookshelf, waiting to be read, for over thirty years. I didn't know what I was missing. This is top-notch horror at its finest, a masterpiece of brilliantly drawn characters; sheer, nail-biting terror; pacing; and plot. I was once of the belief that King's later work was his best, that he got better with age like a fine malt. But this is something else. Trust me. As for Ms Raver's narration, I have only one thing to say: 'Cujo, you old son of a whore.' Thank you for making such a brilliant book even better. Outstanding work.

No disappointment
Such a sad story. Very tense moments. One would almost hope it would end differently.

Irritating voices
Good story but irritating narration. Voices all seem to degenerate to croaky, whiny frogs at moments of tension

Good story, not a fan of narrator's voice
It's a great story that I finished quickly but the narrator's voice took a while to get used to

Not one of Stephen King best books
Not one of Stephen King best books. Quite slow in places and one does not really engage with the characters

Difficult read
Not the best King, but classic King all the same. I say it's difficult to read not because of the writing or the narration (although the narration leaves something to be desired) but because it's a pretty traumatic story. I finished it in two listens, and while it's probably one of my least favourite King audiobooks it's still pretty damn good.
Lorna Raver was serviceable, she did a great job with her Maine accent (Ayuh!) but the majority of her male voices either sounded like someone who was extremely creepy or just sounded like a monster. Some characters this worked for but for others it was very distracting.
7/10 altogether.
