Summary
The past will always find you. A woman is found brutally murdered in a sordid Atlanta apartment. Her blood-soaked body bears a startling similarity to a woman found dead almost 40 years earlier. Soon Special Agent Will Trent finds himself returning to the home he grew up in - and a past that could hold the clue to the killings.…

Just Awesome !!!
I loved this story right from the start. The intreaging characters, excellent use of humour, and riveting storyline, all wrapped up in mystery and suspense. Karin Slaughter is a genius author, and has excelled herself yet again.
As always the narration was awesome, much admiration goes to Jennifer Woodward, whose voice I could listen to all day.
All in all, this was a real pleasure to listen to, and I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a gritty drama, with a rollercoaster of romance and emotional bindings. Fabulous!

Willbur
This gives an excellent insight to Will’s back story, and also reveals more about Amanda’s rise from the Atlanta police department in the mid 70s and her close ties to Will. Well worth a listen.

This was a fantastic book, on more than one occasion I cried out.
Amanda and Will relationships un ravelling was a jaw dropper!
This was the best book of Karin I have read so far I did not want it to end.

Very slow moving
I found this a bit tedious, it was OK, but not brilliant. The story was very slow moving, and the switching the dates made it more complicated than it needed to be.
The earlier time span was overboard with its racism and anti female rhetoric, I found that really uneccessary and unpleasant.

Good
Not quite as good as some other the other books in the series but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Good book, would recommend if you enjoyed the earlier stories. The previous ones aren't vital, but do help a lot to understand the characters.
The Kept Woman (#8) is my favourite in the series, and the best standalone which doesn't force you to read the ones before.

Great book, annoying main cahracter.
What does Jennifer Woodward bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
She is not an amazing narrator but she does a good job. Her accents seem accurate and unlike a lot of her peers, her male voices are believable.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I think there were several moments which were supposed to move me but to be honest I find Will's constant angst a little tiresome. Quite frankly, with his complete inability to keep his emotions in check and his total disregard for anyone he cares about, he is the most distinctly unlikable character I have ever tolerated.
Any additional comments?
I really like these books, despite the fact that Will Trent and I seem to be having a metaphysical personality clash. I'm probably being unfair but what few believable aspects of his character there are, are singularly unappealing. Don't let this put you off however as this story is absolutely worth getting your teeth in to.
