Summary

An unhealthy friendship takes a sinister turn. Almost everyone has a friend whom they barely tolerate. It’s that person whose jokes are always annoying, who tries to butt in on nights out, or who keeps coming over unannounced. For Martha, that friend is her new neighbor, Jennie.

Jennie worships Martha. She loves everything about her: Martha’s house, Martha’s impressive children, Martha’s attractive husband, even the way Martha dresses. But when Jennie starts changing, gaining confidence and succeeding in love and work, Martha’s life begins to come apart at the seams.

Gillian White’s Copycat is a biting suburban satire about a fraught relationship between frenemies taken to its most extreme conclusion.

Awful, terrible

Would you try another book written by Gillian White or narrated by Sue Reynolds?

This is the worst book I have ever read, and the worst narration. Don't be fooled by the title, it has nothing to do with the film of the same name. Don't be fooled by the special price, it's worth NOTHING unless you want to read a completely unbelievable and pathetic and whining narrative. Choose some other chick lit

What will your next listen be?

don't know

What didn’t you like about Sue Reynolds’s performance?

whining in places and boring in others, slow narration with over-annoying percussive consonants

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

no

What was most disappointing about Gillian White’s story?

The narration. The story is quite good but the poor narration completely ruins it.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Sue Reynolds?

Somebody who does not have such an irritating voice,

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No. I am just left with a feeling of frustration over the awful narration,

Gillian White

Always darkly comical, rarely any likeable characters, consistently strange narration, all comes together cohesively, sad to think she won't be writing anymore novels.
