Publisher's Summary

Out on the ice, polar bears aren't the only natural born killers.

Nick Stone is suffering. The two people he cared for most are gone. Thousands of miles away, five ex-servicemen, badly wounded in Afghanistan, are preparing for a trek to the North Pole in an attempt to begin to rebuild their shattered bodies and minds.

When Stone is summoned as close protection for the trek by an old SAS officer, he accepts unthinkingly, desperate for the chance to escape his own misery. They meet at the world's most northerly airport, where the locals are as hard as nails and the polar bear threat makes it against the law not to carry a gun. But it doesn't take long for Stone and his team to discover that neither the bears nor the locals are the most dangerous predators in this part of the world. It is quickly clear to Stone that the coldest war of all is just beginning.

As an all time fan of Mcnab's work, especially his Nick Stone novels, I might be bias when saying this book was awesome.

The great thing about it was the different style and storyline Mcnab has chosen compared to his other books. I don't think he has written a book like this before, it's a very different storyline which was refreshing to say the least.

If you like to watch Bear grills or other endurance specialists on TV, you'll love this book. It was a welcome change of pace and the exciting and gripping aspect of Nick Stone's adventures remained constant. Well worth a credit.

    "Very poor"

This was just a typical cash cow for Mcnab and a weak storyline with massive gaps and huge levels of improbability and plausibility. Wont be buying any more. Time to retire Nick Stone.

"Don't waist your Audible credit or cash on this ..."

Thanks for reading this. I was really up for the new Nick Stone, but sadly it wasn't up to much. The setting and characters are great ′and the end of the book hints at a possible new direction - fingers crossed′. But the only positive for me was Paul Thornley's narration Brilliant as ever and as much part of Nick Stone as Jeff Harding is of Jack Reacher.

    "Disappointed again"

I've loved the earlier Nick stone series but the last few books have been a bit boring. Running out of good storylines.

"not a bad way to kill a weekend"

better than the last few. Mmcnabs style has gotten a bit better with age and tends to not follow quite the same formula as much. or at least is more entertaining.

i stopped reading some of the early books as thay were very samey.

good to see he has progressed

"This book is very very dull"
What would have made Cold Blood better?

    a decent story line

Would you ever listen to anything by Andy McNab again?

    i dint know

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Paul Thornley?

    no one

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    very disapointed

    Any additional comments?

the book is dull, bland, boring and has no story line what so ever. Nothing happens from start to finish. After a brilliant series Mr McNab appears to have lost it with this story.
It appears that its a story for stories sake! it is shockingly poor
