Summary

There's only one vampire Sookie Stackhouse is involved with - at least voluntarily - and that's Bill. But recently he's been a little distant - in another state distant. His sinister and sexy boss, Eric, has an idea where to find him, and next thing Sookie knows she's off to Jackson, Mississippi, to mingle with the underworld at Club Dead.

It's a dangerous little haunt where the elusive vampire society can go to chill out and suck down some Type O - but when Sookie finally finds Bill caught in an act of serious betrayal, she's not sure whether to save him or to sharpen some stakes.

Sookie Outside of Bon Temps

Sookie Stackhouse fights for her lover, and goes deep into the heart of enemy territory to keep to her sense of honour and true love. She's a heroine because she's a woman who will do what needs to be done to keep her man, without ever giving up her own identity and self-worth. In Club Dead, Sookie leaves Bon Temps for an adventure within the world of the dangerous vampire supernatural community. The reading of this book is just right: not too coy and not too knowing. An excellent book in the series and one which shows the scope and imagination of Charlaine Harris's writing.

Re-review

I wrote a bad review for this book but have since changed my mind. I was annoyed that the story didn't go the way I wanted it to. I've since read the rest of the series and all of the books are great and I love the Sookie Stackhouse world. Highly recommended if you want to escape into total fantasy.

Club dead

This is book 3 in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Sookie's boyfriend, Bill, has been kidnapped and Sookie, together with Bill's boss, Eric, must work together to save him. This is intense and action-packed from start to finish. Compulsive listening!

Better than TV!

I' ve watched the first three seasons on television, but like the books better. Johanna Parker does her best to describe Sookies feelings towards her favorite vampires. Can't wait for the final decision. Will Alcid be part of her lovelife?

well read action packed story

I saw the True Blood TV series and wanted to find out what happened next. I am enjoying the talking books more than the TV series. The story is told in first person solely from Sookie's perspective, but the character is more likeable than in the tv series. The narrator does excellent voices for all the characters and the story is grippping, introducing lots of new characters such as werevolves into the story. There is humour, fast paced action and romance. NOT suitable for teenagers.

This is my favourite book from Sookie Stackhouse series and, gosh, isn't it a nice listen too! Johanna Parker is very good. I think I listened to it more than dozen times - just cannot have enough.
My second fav is Dead to the World.

Good paced adventure read wonderfully

Sookie feels that her boyfriend Bill is more distant, and doesn't really know how to deal with him lying to her. However, once Eric tells her Bill is missing and probably cheated on her with a previous lover, she doesn't hesitate to help the vampires search for him. And to help her with this, she has the help of the nice werewolf Alcide.

I enjoyed this book's pace as much more happens and we get more of the outside world and less of Sookie's head. However, this book is laying foundations for the next ones as more supernaturals are brought into the light and Bill is slowly being pushed aside. It is a very entertaining to listen, even after a second time. The narrator is very good!
