Her longtime partner, the Krispy Kreme-loving Herb, is on the case with Jack, as is her former partner and nemesis, Harry. They band together to try to stop Kork's chilling rampage, resulting in the most gripping and suspenseful Jack Daniels mystery yet.
Konrath is the author of Fuzzy Navel, Dirty Martini, Rusty Nail, Bloody Mary, and Whiskey Sour.

"Boy did I learn a lesson"
First of all never get multiple titles by the same author you've never read before.
I did this with Konrath, at sale price fortunately. As my buying history shows I'm not a prude with my listening. However this book was completely obsessed with sex to the point of total boredom. EVERYTHING was viewed with sex colored glasses. Of the hundreds of books I've listened to this was one of the 3 or 4 I just put down, it was just that boring and useless.
Not even the other two in my library.
I won't say anything negative about Breck's performance, I'm sure she does well with better material. Dick Hill doesn't need any critique, he is THE voice. Even with this piece his range and inflection was, as always, spot on.
"Love the series"
I think the entire Jack Daniels series is great. Good mix of mystery, thriller, and comedy. I don't think I could actually bring myself to read the book because the acting (not reading) of this series by Susie Breck and Dick Hill I think enhance the books tremendously. Their accents are spot on and Dick Hill's characters are hilarious. Good material is important (and Konrath delivers), but jokes delivered badly don't work. But Breck/Hill have impeccable comic timing and I often find myself laughing out loud (thus, I recommend you not listen to this in public, unless you want strange stares from people). If some graphic language and sex descriptions bother you, you might want to pass on this (i.e., not one to play in the car with the kids). I hope the editor whips Konrath to crank out the next in the series.
"TOO much sex..became unreal"
I would be hesitant to try another book...although Breck and Hill were very good.
Again I would be hesitant I think the plot was lost with so many sex scenes.
Jack Daniels she was determined and in the end did a self-evaluation.
I'll wait for more reviews before I purchased another J.A. Konrath.
"Narrators are terrific!"
I like the Konrath books (all of them), but I especially like Dick Hill and Susie Breck as narrators. Don't read this book--LISTEN to it. And start with Whiskey Sour if you haven't read any yet.
Yes. Interesting, non stop action. This psyco was clever and deadly. The story was riviting, the characters unique and the relationships unconventional.
Yes. For all of the above reasons.
Jack and Finn.
Actually yes. Down with a cold and 11 hours was ok.
This is my third Jack Daniels read because it was so evil hard to say favorite, however it was.
"Tho I Luv the Jack Daniels series, I found. .."
I found this book different than the others, personally I found this story did not move add fast paced as the others.
Cherry bomb does give a more in depth look into Jack, Phin, Harry, Herb, and the rest of the characters in Jacks life. It is worth the read/listen especially if you are like me and reading/listening to all of Jacks adventures.
"Out of step with the rest of the series so far"
Books 1-5 had some small bits of sex/romance - but all of the graphic content in them was related to the criminals and their crimes. Listening to this book felt like "Oh *there's* the sex!" (ie he crammed all of the sex for the entire 6 book series thus far into this single book). It felt very out of step with the rest of the series, particularly considering where this story begins. (I have more to say about this but I am worried about too many spoilers. I don't mind some sex in my books, in certain cases even *a lot* of sex, but I prefer it to be purposeful vs. titillating. Most of the sex in this book not only did not serve the story arc or character development, but in some instances actually hurt it, imnsho.)
This book does resolve the "cliffhanger" from the previous book, but not really in a satisfying way. At some point, for me, the antagonist went from being scary to just being pedantic and annoying. I am also not thrilled with the "growth" and change that Jack went through during the arc of this book - and it too felt somewhat out of step to me - with the foundation set by the first 5 books.
I still enjoyed the Susie Breck/Dick Hill narration team, but found myself more than once asking why Dick Hill was doing the interior narration/voice of a major female character. I love him, and he did a great job, but I think that for this book in particular the assignment of lines to narrator was misplaced.
Overall, not sorry that I listened to it once, but probably won't revisit it.
"Taking A Break"
Nothing to love really -
Same old same old, really tired of Alex and felt like this was beaten to death, really sick of the whole story line.
Can't read anymore right now. I find the author has created some good characters, but is very sophomoric with some, it gets old and ridiculous, maybe he thinks it is funny, but it isn't and I'm tired, not sure if I'll read the last two or not. I am done for now.
loved the story. It has a little bit of everything laughter, mystery, ups and downs. I like stories that aren't predictable, love the unknown. this book and the series hasn't disappointed me.
"Predictable, repetitive and boring"
I'd like to see unexpected twists and turns that are reasonable. The ending and all the killings were so uneventful. I could see them a mile away and they were uninteresting.
No completely, but I have not bought more crime stories.
Yes, it was adequate and did not interfere with the comprehension.
The serial killer Alex because she was too unbelievable. So other villain would have been better.
Even the ending was lame and apparent.
