Summary

The face of war is changing. The other side doesn't play by the rules much anymore. There's thinking, in some circles, that we need to play by a different set of rules too....

Fresh from Afghanistan, James Bond has been recruited to a new agency. Conceived in the post-9/11 world, it operates independent of Five, Six and the MoD, with its very existence deniable. Its aim: to protect the Realm, by any means necessary.

The Night Action alert calls Bond from dinner with a beautiful woman. GCHQ has decrypted an electronic whisper about an attack scheduled for later in the week: casualties estimated in the thousands, British interests adversely affected. And 007 has been given carte blanche to do whatever it takes to fulfil his mission.

Good initially, great characters. Loses itself.

Great job with Bond /00 section. Plot unravels about halfway through. Still a good book.

Dissapointing

I am a huge fan of Mr Deaver and his works but i was thoroughly disappointed with this story. The james bond character has nothing of the feel we are used to having and his personality fell flat. Also the whole book seems to drag on even to the very predictable twist at the end. Very disappointed! Maybe Mr Deaver should stick to his own fictional characters like Lincoln Rhyme.

my first audible Bond.

some annoying accents but otherwise entertaining.
the story was classic bond though slightly less blood and thunder than would be in a big screen adaption - naturally.
recommended for a good, addictive listen

Great. Don't forget to Shred Everything!

A new look to the saying "Where there's muck, there's brass". A great read.

Bond by Deaver

A really good read. A more 'earthy' portrail than one gets in the films. A lively plot which keeps one's interest throughout. I look forward to more Bond intrigue via Jeffery Deaver

goldenears

been a fan of the bond films for ever- not all of them though, obviously!, but never read the original source material. however- also a fan of the great Jeffrey Deaver so thought the book would be interesting to say the least. I was blown away- seriously. a great romp, well narrated, I couldn't take my headphones off! I would recommend this even of you aren't a fan of the bond genre- superb fiction.

Next Bond Film????

What a cracking book!!
This was one of those that you start listening to and don't stop until the book has ended.

This should make a superb Bond film in the future!

Lots of typical Bond things going on, and obviously he "Saves The World", but it's the way he went about it. Great listen indeed.
