Be Prepared!
For the most appauling narration ever! This clearly was not edited. Narrator was constantly restarting sentences, there were no character definitions and it was difficult to judge were one paragraph ended and another began.
However, the actual story was good, but totally spolied by the reader. Suggest Kindle version. Audible you seriously need to review and edit!

Reasonable story spoilt by unedited narration
Good storyline, plausible characters. Listening seriously spoilt by numerous unedited narration faults. Returning the audio book.

great story ruined by narrator
What would have made Candles and Roses better?
If the publishing company has bothered to listen to the finished product and made edits
What did you like best about this story?
It was quite clever, and there is a twist that leaves you guessing. The Detective is a very "real" character. The premise of the candles and roses was a good plot point.
What didn’t you like about David McCann’s performance?
It is hard to give negative reviews to either an author or a narrator, as I can't do either. David McCann's voice was perfect for Alec (the lead detective) but he was not able to make the other characters distinguishable. Sometimes you don't even realise he has switched to a different set of characters having a conversation. But worse than this is it is full of mistakes, so many, this it is laughable. The editors simply didn't (edit I mean) I doubt whether it was ever listened to by anyone before it was sold on.. At one stage he (David) starts a sentence then says "sorry" and starts over. I do that when I am reading to someone. It almost seemed that he may have read this entire book at one sitting and by the end of the day he was simply too tired and lost concentration as the mistakes escalated.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I have said it all above-anger.
Any additional comments?
I kept listening to the book to the end as it is a good story, I would listen to it again if it was re-recorded as the narration mistakes took away my enjoyment.

Enjoyable thriller
A great book but with poor narrator. I've listened to many books and this is the poorest narration I've heard, with repeated errors throughout. The story was great so I put up with the narrator but was repeatedly annoyed at the errors.

Narrator
The narration is dreadful, could do with editing. Story line is thin but I hope later books are more developed.

A new series to watch out for
Candles and Roses is a great start to a new crime series. Alex Walter's DI Alec McKay series is definitely one to watch out for. I'm looking forward to the next novel as I really enjoyed this story.

Blumin awful production
Great story, really captivating, however the narrator and producer have made multiple errors. I’m not sure if the Narrator was unwell during recording but to hear him repeatedly say sorry when he’d fluffed the reading and then repeat several lines again just got embarrassing. I would beg that the wonderful story is re-recorded by someone that can do it justice

Not edited
Shame that this book hasn't been edited as it spoils a good story.
Obviously no one has taken the time to listen to it before publishing as you can clearly hear the narrator saying sorry and repeating the sentence and its not just a couple of times!
