Summary

All trails became dead ends. Tips that had at first seemed urgent now faded away. The waiting game began. Whoever had the manuscripts would want money, and a lot of it. They would surface eventually, but where and when, and how much would they want?

The most daring and devastating heist in literary history targets a high security vault located deep beneath Princeton University. Valued at $25 million (though some would say priceless), the five manuscripts of F. Scott Fitzgerald's only novels are amongst the most valuable in the world. After an initial flurry of arrests, both they and the ruthless gang of thieves who took them have vanished without trace. Dealing in stolen books is a dark business, and few are initiated to its arts - which puts Bruce Kable right on the FBI's Rare Asset Recovery Unit's watch list.

A struggling writer burdened by debts, Mercer Mann spent summers on Florida's idyllic Camino Island as a kid, in her grandmother's beach cottage. Now she is being made an offer she can't refuse: to return to the peace of the island, to write her novel - and get close to a certain infamous bookseller, and his interesting collection of manuscripts....

My first audio book...

You can't really never finish a John Grisham book, always a good read. This one was rather predictable but a good story none the less.

Loved it.

I love the slow, easy-to-listen-to style of Grisham.

This is a bit different to his usual offering but I found it delightful.

Performance outshines the Story

I have read every John Grisham novel that he's wrote, so I can say I'm a bit of a fan. This is a run of the mill novel that flows at a nice pace. Yes, the Story is nice and simple and you do want a bit more meat, but what punches like a bee is the narrator. she brings EVERY character to life and gives them a heart. She made me want to read this in one session. I don't think this novel will win lots of praise, but I have just got myself a new fan in January Lavoy.

Easy listen but not much of a story

As the title says, a bit weak on story. Very happy ending as predicted... 3stars

enjoyable though not the tension of his previous thrillers. An enjoyable plot and characters all well performed.

Couldn't finish it. Started great as well

Started great as well then went off at such a tangent. And meandered through chapter after chapter of island folks and their daily humdrum lives. Following the tale of this aspiring writer whom I could care little for.

Mr Grisham, where was the pace for this novel clearly you have enough books behind you that you are allowed these wittering novels onto the shelf for guillable folks like me to buy in the hope I'm getting a Firm, Pelican Brief, or Client type story.

Gentle intrigue

This was my first audiobook version of a John Grisham book, I’m likely to listening to more.

Home from home

I like to live in a book for a while and Camino Island provided this. I liked the characters, the plot, the place. I know little about authors, writing or booksellers so any information I pick up is enjoyed and then forgotten. An ldeal book for a casual read.

Decent, but a little empty

Book starts off with a good start, then dragged on with an ending that seemed to have to no real thought. From crime thriller to miles and boom and back!
