Summary

The Quetico-Superior Wilderness: more than two million acres of forest, white-water rapids, and uncharted islands on the Canadian/American border. Somewhere in the heart of this unforgiving territory, a young woman named Shiloh - a country-western singer at the height of her fame - has disappeared.
Her father arrives in Aurora, Minnesota, to hire former sheriff Cork O'Connor to find his daughter, and Cork joins a search party that includes an ex-con, two FBI agents, and a 10-year-old boy. Others are on Shiloh's trail as well - men hired not just to find her, but to kill her.
As the expedition ventures deeper into the wilderness, strangers descend on Aurora, threatening to spill blood on the town's snowy streets. Meanwhile, out on the Boundary Waters, winter falls hard. Cork's team of searchers loses contact with civilization, and like the brutal winds of a Minnesota blizzard, death - violent and sudden - stalks them.

So so sequel
Expected a little more from book 2, an adequate novel but compared to the excellent Iron Lake I was left disappointed. Hoping book 3 will be an improvement or I won't be continuing with the series.

Always Compelling
There is a certain amount of annoying Indian ideas of spirit stuff and tales. but I can stand that for the good intrigue and mystery. Always compelling stuff.

Well written and narrated. Great word pictures of the countryside and the native culture. Look forward to the next in the series.

Atmospheric
The characters and landscape come alive in every phrase the author writes and the narrator lends a noble air
This is the second in a series and I can hardly wait for my next credit so I can get the third

really enjoyed this 2nd book
A good mix of native American culture woven into a good whodunnit. Cork sets off on trail of a missing girl at the request of her stepfather - it all gets very messy.
