Blood Harvest

1st Audio book. Amazed how one narrator can make a book so interesting. Book kept you on the edge of your seat and made you try to solve the mystery for yourself. Wonderful story with many twist and turns. No disappointment here at all.

Fantastic!

Can't rate this highly enough. The narrator really brings the full cast of characters to life. I thought the performance was amazing especially considering that you have some scenes with dialogue between multiple characters with different accents. The Awakening and Sacrifice are excellent too.

Excellent

I've listened to all the other books in this series and about to start again!! This one is pretty spooky and gripping. It's was good to find new characters introduced which are in subsequent books. Great narrator. Thoroughly recommend Also listen to the series in correct order.

Brilliant and tense story but with an ending that fizzles out

The story is great, and has per usual Ms Bolton has done her homework . Several issues were brought into the story, and the twist in the end was one that mostly took me by surprise. The small town background with ancient scary practises, the “supernatural” feel, the missing children, the vicar, the disabled psychiatrist, the grief stricken alcoholic young mother, all contribute to a story with depth. My only complaint is the ending. It was as though Ms Bolton couldnt bear to end the mystery. It should have been tidier, more upfront. And dare I say? The vicar could have found his girl.

Great listen

This was a great book. Halfway through you think it's about to finish, and then there's a whole extra part to it. My husband listened to this when running in the dark, and got a bit scared!

Outstanding.....

I have to confess I chose this book because it had Clare Corbett narrating it. And I hadn't read any of Sharon Bolton's books prior to it. But I was totally blown away by the overall quality of every aspect of this novel.

The plot was truly well crafted, and the characters so well put together. You almost felt you knew them. The storyline was perfectly developed and at times made the hair on the back of your neck stand up. It was a true thriller in every sense of the word. A book you just wanted to finish while you also didn't want it to end.

Clare Corbett's narration brings every character to life and I can't praise her enough.

By far, the best book of my membership to date.

Utterly gripping and atmospheric.

From the very first sentence “She’s been watching us for a while now” the hairs were up on the back of my neck and i had a good idea that this was going to be one audiobook i would whizz through and i was right.
Heptonclough a small rural village is now the home to the Fletcher’s, Gareth, Alice and their three children Tom, Joe and little Millie. Setting up home in their newly built house which lies next to the old abandoned church and graveyard, this should be a happy time for them but it’s soon clear that not all is as it seems.
New Vicar Harry comes upon the Fletcher boys when he first arrives at the church and a friendship soon developes between himself and the Fletcher family. Harry feels an unease in the church and after being introduced to some of the villagers its apparent that they are hiding things and Harry may not be that welcome.
Many of the characters in this book had me thinking. Did they know more than they were letting on? Who is responsible? There wasn’t many that were very trustworthy and i love how the mystery and the tension builds.
I instantly felt a creepiness wash over me as soon as i started listening to Blood Harvest and that didn’t leave me until i was finished. The narrator Clare Corbett has done a fantastic job of setting the scene and drawing the listener straight in to the story.
This is only the second book i have read by Sharon Bolton but it certainly wont be the last. Blood Harvest is a very atmospheric book and it was very easy to feel like i was in the story, watching from the sidelines.
Usually when i listen to audio books i have to be busy or my concentration goes but with Blood Harvest i found myself snuggled up in bed listening and totally engrossed. I set the timer umpteen times and every time found myself making it longer so i could listen to more.
If you like creepy, chilling and utterly  absorbing books then Blood Harvest is definitely for you. I’m so looking forward to reading or listening to more by this author. This is a definite recommend from It’s all about the books.

Intriguing story

This is a character driven story, with some interesting people who mostly behave as you think normal people would. The plot isn’t as predictable as you might think when you start listening. Claire Corbett is such a versatile reader it is always obvious who is speaking. Highly recommended
