It's been a sleepy summer for the folks of Lake Eden, Minnesota. In fact, it's been a whole four months since anyone in the Swensen family has come across a dead body - a detail that just made the front page of the local paper. And that means Hannah Swensen can finally focus on her bakery. . .or can she? Life is never really quiet for Hannah. After all, her mother's wedding is a little over a month away and guess who Delores put in charge of the planning?
Yet just when Hannah believes her biggest challenge will be whether to use buttercream or fondant for the wedding cake, she accidentally hits a stranger with her cookie truck while driving down a winding country road in a raging thunderstorm. Hannah is wracked with guilt, and things get even worse when she's arrested. . .for murder! But an autopsy soon reveals the mystery man, his shirt covered in stains from blackberry pie, would have died even if Hannah hadn't hit him. Now, to clear her name, Hannah will have to follow a trail of pie crumbs to track down the identity of the deceased, find a baker who knows more about murder than how to roll out a perfect pie crust - and get herself to the church on time. . .

"A Book With No Ending"
The story just abruptly stopped with no proper ending. It leaves the reader wondering what happens regarding the events happening in the book. Also, it is time for the long, drawn out love triangle to end!
Maybe, but I will wait for the reviews first. I think she has run out of ideas on this storyline.
These characters have become so boring and tedious and the love triangle so ridiculous. It is time for the author to wrap up the story and start something new. Also, the recipes would be better put at the end of the book instead of breaking up the story. And stop talking down to me so much in the recipes.
"Who Cut Off the End of the Book???"
This could have and WOULD HAVE been a four or five star book, but the end of it was NOT THERE.. I had to rewind it twice to make sure that I had not missed something. I actually LOVE this series, and was LOVING this book . . . then it ended. Now I am MAD!!!
Finish story lines. The book ended abruptly with two or three issues hanging.
Finish the story lines. Have a decision made between Mike and Norm for goodness sake. It is becoming a joke.
I enjoy the narration although I think Suzanne's narration depicts Hannah as being too old.
A little disappointment.
"Sorry I wasted the money"
I guess I am not into these food titled mysteries.
The characters really just irritated me.
"Where's the ending?"
First disappointing book!
Moyesha using the treadmill.
Laurie, the Mom
My reaction was disappointment that Ms. Fluke left all of her loyal readers hanging with no ending. Not a good plan.
Hope this isn't the beginning of a style change now that her books are a hit tv series. You've got to have endings!!!!
Always love listening to this series. spent many hours in driveway just listening not wanting to turn off...lol
"What happened to the ending?"
Enjoyed the story like all of the Hannah Swenson stories. Disappointed that ending left you hanging for what happened. 😡
"Enjoyable, as usual but 2 story lines unfinished"
I haven't read the print version
Moishe - good comic relief.
Are the unfinished story lines - Delores' wedding and Hannah's trial - contained in the next book of the series
"Great story simple and interesting ."
Love it. I personally enjoy this seiries. The narrator was a great .
An ENDING to the story. In a terrible lightning storm, Hannah swerves to avoid a tree branch in the road after rounding a bend & the car hydroplanes, going sideways; she hits a man by the side of the road, killing him. It turns out somebody fought with him earlier and he wouldn't have survived the blows another hour even if a dr had been onsite. But technically, Hannah killed him & is arrested for vehicular manslaughter. The whole book is taken up with the mystery of who this stranger was. And I must say it dragged and felt padded. The topper is the ending - it's not there. I was listening before falling asleep and I literally sat up in bed and checked the download and then looked up Fluke's NEXT book to discover THAT is about the trial! I haven't felt so cheated since Star Wars II when they froze Han Solo & left him that way for 3 yrs till The Return of the Jedi.
Yes - I've read about half of her earlier books and if I EVER read another Fluke it will be one of the earlier ones, not the later ones from this clunker on. And not going to trust any Fluke without reading ALL the reviews to make sure there is an ending. I didn't read the reviews before buying this one BECAUSE I'd already read at least 6 of the earlier books & it was old familiar characters I counted on. But being duped into reading a book with NO ENDING really ticks me off. Even tho I've read hit or miss & out of order, the characters in THIS book were very annoying compared w/earlier books. The ongoing love triangle between Hannah & Norman & Mike is ridiculous. Now even Hannah's mother is having her groom-to-be sleeping over. Hannah must be the oldest virgin in America. I (obviously) don't read Fluke for steamy sex but I suspect mannequins get more action than Hannah. No wonder she & the rest of the people in town are so deadly dull.
The performance was good as usual by this reader. No complaints except that the performer is better than the writer.
Well Hannah and Norman laughing about shark teeth was not funny and felt like padding. The hilarity the characters exhibit is NOT shared by the listeners, in my opinion. Also,
I really don't care about the mother's wedding dress colors, menu, flowers, bridesmaid's dresses, etc. Hannah's mother is horribly self-centered - no wonder Moishe's fur stands on end whenever the mother phones. At the END of the book, Hannah's trial is UPCOMING and her mother is SO glad it will be over in time for HER wedding to Doc. WHAT IF HANNAH IS CONVICTED, YOU MORON?! Hannah should join the Peace Corps - she is the most selfless martyr I ever read about. And she clearly got that way (as did her sisters) by overcompensating for a narcissistic mother. Family dynamics require SOMEbody develop the characteristics needed to fill the void & there's such a void of empathy in the mother that all the sisters are altruistic to the point of martyrdom.
I think I said all I need to say except: Don't waste your money!
