When Robbie Bishop, star midfielder for the Bradfield Vics, is poisoned by a rare and deadly toxin, profiler Dr Tony Hill and trusted colleague DCI Carol Jordan have their work cut out for them. Then a bomb explodes in the football stadium, causing massive casualties - and another man dies from poisoning. Is there a link between the cases? What are the motives for these crimes? The clock is ticking, and the death toll keeps rising....

"The queen of British crime.... McDermid is a consummate plotter so there are pleasing twists and turns in this first-rate story." (Observer)
"The Queen of serial killers in this country keeps her end up...few can scoop Val on throat-clutching narrative.... Marvellous." (Daily Mail)
I'm making my way through all of the Hill and Jordan series and i enjoyed the story but the very poor accents put on my the narrator really annoyed me and i'm now not sure about the the rest of the series now
very poor regional accents
Saul Reichlin has read other things (millenium trilogy)brilliantly, but his accents in this were laughably awful, which really detracted from a typically gripping story from Val McDermid
