The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie?
Jack has looks and wealth; Grace has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do. You'd like to get to know Grace better. But it's difficult, because Jack and Grace are never apart.
Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows.
Sometimes the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.

"This book just has to be huge.... I flew through it in two breathless sittings. Quite simply: astounding." (S. J. I. Holliday, author of Black Wood)
I would definitely recommend this book ! It was gripping from the start and I couldn't put it down ! I finally finished it at 2 in the morning and then wished I'd taken it slower ! I cant wait for her next book
It brought to mind Apple tree yard , where being brought down so low brought out the determination for revenge
The feeling of complete and utter helplessness and being totally at someone else's mercy
Millie made me laugh at times , what a clever girl ! At times it made me fearful for Grace I wanted to shout' don't he'll punish you !
It would make a great movie
this is a great book. i really enjoyed the story even though sometimes i felt I was going to cry as things go from bad to worse. will recommend this to others. the performance of the reader is great and really puts across the feeling of the protagonist. loved it
Poorly written, too many holes in the plot and since when do people with downs syndrome get put into mental asylums? Offensive. Also the main character is pathetic, she's either a confident woman who travels the world on behalf of Harrods alone or she's a quiet under the thumb victim, make your mind up
People who inhabit an alternative reality where email and mobile telephones don't exist.
Possibly. The writing was not terrible, but the plot was wholly implausible.
Better material would have helped. The narrator is playing an implausibly helpless woman - and that can't be easy.
Fantastic listen, gripped from the start and could not stop listening. Narrator was fantastic. Looking forwards to more books from this author.
I kept going with this in the hope that there would be a twist at the end. It was such an unbelievable plot, that it was actually becoming quite frustrating to listen to. It was well read & parts of the description were good, but overall not worth listening to.
"Well worth the read/listen"
Brilliant, gripping!!!! Very well read.
Worth the read/listen not a book I would usually read but this one had me hooked all the way through
"Frighteningly , sad"
Frighteningly, sad story that kept me riveted until the end . I can't say I enjoyed it , but I would recommend it as a book worth listening to
