This was very well written and beautifully narrated. Its a tale with many layers and a few twists. There wasn't a wasted sentence here, so I never wanted to put it down. Some reviewers said it was great until the last couple of chapters, which they didn't like. I was very happy (though surprised) by how it turned out. It was all plausible and perfectly satisfying.
The narrator of this book is shocking - especially his attempt at female voices. Why not just hire a woman to co-narrate? Story is packed full of unnecessary sexual descriptions (definitely written by a man) and has such a rubbish and unbelievable ending.
Not bad, but does take a while to really grib you. The end was good but slightly over explained
I really enjoyed this book. it was a little slow to start and certain characters annoyed me but I stuck with it and it's easily the best I have listened to for ages. it had me a bit scared at times and all the way through wanting to know what was going to happen next. buy it!
story was cleverly crafted but not enough connection was made throughout the story to justify the ending. disappointing finish.
readers female voices sounded like drag artists. accents well done generally however.
"Good suspense thriller from beginning to the end."
I couldn't quit listening because I wanted to know what came next. Good character development and writing. Totally enjoyed it, and was surprised by the ending.
Gone girl by Gillian Flynn. Because it was a twisty suspense about love gone bad that had you going right up to the end. The ending was unexpected. Some of the characters you loved and hated, then your perception of them later changed. People can be creepy and real psychotic. It also reminded me a little of Stephen King.
Can't really say one scene/part stood out. I liked the whole book.
Yes. But it took me two days not one. I alternately read the book, and listened to the audible version when I couldn't sit and read.
New author for me. I really enjoyed it. He is a good writer with good character development, and a good story. I like a good suspense thriller, and I look forward to reading/listening to more of his books. The author has a great imagination and had written the book on similar things that happened to him.
Despite the somewhat clichéd storyline, I really enjoyed this book!
There is only so much you can do with a psycho-girlfriend plot, and I can’t say that this author came up with any new twists in the genre, but nevertheless I was kept guessing.
It was a satisfying and entertaining distraction.
"One of The Most Boring Books Ever!"
Nothing happens in this book! Nothing. The story rambles on & on with some twists & turns that end up at dead ends over & over again. Absolutely boring and a waste of money & time. Do not waste your credit or your money.
"Slow Pace, Annoying Female Characters"
I can't say, really. I didn't finish the book, as it was going at such a slow pace and the writing was so mediocre. The narration of females was so jarring I had to grit my teeth to get though it. Not worth the credit.
The mediocre writing.
He didn't narrate women well at all, he made them sound daft and pathetic.
All of them.
Not worth the credit.
This author needs to take a creative writing course. I can't judge the story as I couldn't get beyond the first 90 pedestrian minutes.
I couldn't stop listening, even thou I wanted too. The story was good but the constant self talk and analyzing by the main character was exhausting! I needed to take breaks because the constant internal dialog from the main character was way too much. Overall it was a good story and did not see the end coming. Will download another from this author. Narration was on point👌
"Amazing Thriller- Absolutely Loved This Book!"
I was pleasantly surprised with 'Because She Loves Me' by Mark Edwards. I was hooked from beginning until the end. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I hadn't been able to 'get into' an audible book for some time and the narrator, characters, and story in 'Because She Loves Me' had me listening every chance I could.
We have a single man who was orphaned at a young age. He meets a lovely girl one night at a pub and doesn't hear from her for awhile. When he does finally get the text weeks later, he sees her again and they become inseparable. They fall into a deep kind of crazy love that one reads of in romance novels and fairy tales. However.. as we all know, if something or someone seems too good to be true, that's generally the case.
Strange things start to happen and everything points back to the girl, Charlie, and her sketchy mood swings and her seemingly unknown past. The longer we know Charlie, the weirder things get..
Edwards has a knack for building suspense and he does not fail to exceed his readers' expectations. Bravo Mr. Edwards! You are officially one of my favourites- thanks for a great, satisfying read.
"Captivated for the first 90% and then lost me"
I loved this book until the last 10 percent. This story had a constant rhythm and build and then in the final chapters it took a series of wrong turns that just didn't fit. Very disappointed and I do not recommend.
"Surprise Ending Not Credible"
Some interesting plot points, but unfortunately the characters were contrived and their behavior unrealistic. Also, all the women sounded like upper-class Brits with bulimia and tongue studs. The raspy, lispy tentative narration drove me nuts--sorry.
"Taut, Intelligent Thriller"
Excellent, well-paced. Would recommend to those who enjoy slow but steady build up and relatable characters.
