Publisher's Summary

Participation is not an option....

The Lambert Family is heading to Crescent Lake, a rural cabin community in western Pennsylvania, for an idyllic weekend getaway. Some fishing, some barbecue, some games...

The Fannelli brothers are heading to Crescent Lake too. Some stalking, some kidnapping, some murder, definitely some games - though not necessarily the type of games the Lamberts had in mind.

But it doesn't matter. The Lamberts are going to play whether they like it or not.

An intense psychological thriller, Bad Games has the dark, mind-bending terror of Cape Fear combined with the fish-out-of-water dread and suspense of Deliverance.

So let Jeff Menapace's best-selling thriller keep you up all night as it delves into the mystery of nature versus nurture when comprehending the evil in man, along with the will and determination an innocent family must summon to fight back against horrific odds.

Bonus! Includes the first chapter of the pulse-pounding sequel, Vengeful Games.

"A Top Horror, Hidden in the Suspense Section"

BOUT AS HELPFULL AS A MESH CONDOM
Sometimes the decision of what section to put a book in, by audible, can help or hurt a book. Unless you are following someone who has read this book, you may not have heard of it. If you are a horror fan, than that is a tragedy. This is one of the more horrific books I have listened to. Mostly because of the realness of it. If my review seems to ramble to much, than read TAD B'S review, he nails it. This should be in the horror section as well as the suspense section. Book 3, is in the horror section. I was a little worried, as I have preached before, about books that are given away for free as usually being losers. I paid full price, but several reviewers got it for free. In this case, don't let that deter you, believe all the four to five star reviews.

SMALL TALK WAS A HEMORRHIOD TO HIM
The book is well written and extremely intense. If you have read THE GIRL NEXT DOOR , by Jack Ketchum, than I am talking almost that intense. Web Cam by Konrath would be another good example. This was entertaining all the way. Around the sixth hour, I almost got a little sick, as children were involved and due to the realness, I was not sure I could handle, what might happen to them. I don't want to give any spoilers, but don't let that bother you, they are not tortured, all though what they witness and it is not really that bad, could leave mental scars. As the man of the house, I am especially sensitive to being made helpless and watching my family suffer. The mental side of that would be worse on me, than anything that might be physically done to me.

A WOMAN WILL MAKE LOVE TO A PACIFIST, BUT SHE WILL F@@@ A KNIGHT
As a man who has been happily married for almost 39 years and who is sill passionately in love and lust with my wife, it was so refreshing to listen to a book, in which the main couple are happily married and passionate about each other. Many of these type of books, love to show all the couples as being unhappy and having affairs. I will not get started on my speech about statistics, but the norm really is, that most couples are happy. It also made it easier for me to relate to the main characters of this book. This is a series, and I will buy the next in line.

    "An addicting novel and narration!"

I highly recommend Bad Games...chilling, disturbing yet unable to stop listening! The narration by Mr. Tiedemann is outstanding! His performance enables the listener to visualize every character, feel every emotion and jump at every unsettling act! Can't wait to start the sequel!

    "Wow! This Was SO Good!"

Nail biting suspense, humor, twists and turns. Well written and narrated story. Don’t want to say anything else, no spoilers. I’ll remember this one for a long time. Well worth your time, money or credit. There is some violence but surprisingly not as much as you might expect. The ending will raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

"Action, humor, and horror mixed in..."
What did you love best about Bad Games?

I loved the humor of this book. How the author kept humor and quirkiness going throughout the entire story is an art. There are so many bad things happening yet they feel almost normal, because of the author's gift of weaving humor into horror.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bad Games?

I thought it was super gross and memorable when the dog ate the finger out of the bait can of worms. If this had happened with my dog I would have lost all of my composure.

Which character – as performed by Gary Tiedemann – was your favorite?

I really liked the dad in the story he was the leading character and had my attention the whole time.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to finish this book to find out the outcome of the family involved however, I was not able to finish it all in one setting.

    Any additional comments?

If you want to hear a book that takes horror and adds some humor and expert story details I think this is the book that can do that.

"Don't Listen to Bad Games if You're Trying to go to Bed! "

The Lamberts were written to be a strong family with good values and sensibility. The husband and wife team balanced one another. The children were obedient yet curious. A wholesome family.
The Fannelli brothers (an Italian name without accent or ties to their mother country?) were dysfunctional and polar opposites, including their twisted and non existent values and morals.
Although we know Good usually wins, one would think they can only withstand so much torture and anxiety before giving up. But love offers strength to hold on and fight.
This was an edge of your seat thriller/psychological horror.
I could have never read this book - I had my eyes closed!

I review all audio and ebooks upon completion or DNF.

    "An impressive thriller"

"Bad Games" (2015) by Jeff Menapace is an impressive thriller about a vacationing middle class family—dad, mom, their six-year-old daughter and four-year-old son—being stalked and terrorized by two sadistic, psychopathic, murdering brothers. The brothers discover that the Lambert family is not totally helpless. Told from the perspectives of the brothers and parents, and with numerous twists, it is not a tale for the squeamish. The narration by Gary Tiedemann is very effective. Highly recommended. Audiobook given free in exchange for an honest review.

    "Great Psychological Thriller"
    Any additional comments?

Holy crap! I loved this audiobook! Bad Games pits a vacationing family against two psychopathic brothers in a chilling story that gripped me from the onset. Suspenseful, thrilling and interspersed with humor, this one will make you want to leave the lights on. No ghosts or monsters could have been scarier than the Fannelli brothers because we all know that sadistic people like them really do exist. The scariest things are the ones that can really happen.

Bad Games was well written with lots of twists and turns. The narration was excellent and enhanced the listening experience. I would recommend this.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

    "Yes!"

I had previously read this trilogy and liked them all very much. It was a different experience having them read to me and I loved it! It had been years since I had read them so it was like hearing it all for the first time. This first book in the series really sets the scene. All of the characters are done very well and the narration is just perfect. The "bad guys" in this story are just twisted, to say the least. I love Amy and Patrick and can relate to them so much as they remind me of myself and husband. This book is full of funny banter, demented games, tragic casualties and bad ass bold moves. I was gifted this book by the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. Here's how much I like this book. After getting this one finished I immediately went and purchased the other two books in the series and finished them in a matter of days!
