Publisher's Summary

One of the Appleby crime novels. In a West Country village Priscilla Pringle, writer of clerical detective stories, becomes involved in one of her own ingeniously constructed plots. Luckily Sir John Appleby, retired Metropolitan Police Commissioner, is on hand to sort out fact from fiction.

Would you consider the audio edition of Appleby's Answer: An Inspector Appleby Mystery to be better than the print version?

Yes, due to the fine performance of the narrator, who has a seemingly infinitely flexible voice and brought every eccentric character vividly to life.

If you’ve listened to books by Michael Innes before, how does this one compare?

    N/A

Which character – as performed by Matt Addis – was your favorite?

    Lady Pinkerton

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, although i was forced to divide it up over several days.

    Any additional comments?

Not much happens in this story! So don't purchase or expend a credit on it if you require a genuinely hair-raising, corpse-strewn, edge-of-your-seat experience. This book is for anglophiles who are lovers of language, gentle humor, and character-driven mysteries.
