Summary
Ein millionenschweres Dahlienbild von Henri Fantin-Latour wird entwendet und Allmen International Inquiries mit der Ermittlung beauftragt. In der Tat ein Fall für Allmen, Carlos und dessen reizende Lebensgefährtin María Moreno, die seit kurzem das Duo bereichert. Das Bild war bereits Diebesgut, bevor es die unrechtmäßige Besitzerin wechselte. Und die alte Dame, die es besaß - Dalia Gutbauer, steinreiche Erbin und Inhaberin eines in die Jahre gekommenen Luxushotels -, hat Geld genug, um einen neuen Fantin-Latour zu erwerben.
Warum bloß hängt sie so an diesem Bild? Johann Friedrich von Allmen begreift recht spät, auf welch glattem Parkett er hier auch ermittelt. Unter halbseidenen Halbganoven sowie unter seinesgleichen: heimlichen Experten im Kein-Geld-Haben, mit mehr Ansprüchen als Mitteln. Doch eines ist noch gefährlicher: alternde Männer mit jungen Frauen.
