Almost bigamy and absolute murder - Agatha's life is never dull... The morning of Agatha's longed-for marriage to James Lacey dawns bright and clear. But her luck runs out in the church when Jimmy, the husband she had believed long dead, turns up large as life and twice as ugly. Agatha has a go at strangling him. It's all too much for James, who breaks off the engagement. So when Jimmy is found murdered the next day, Agatha and James are both suspects. And they'll have to work together in order to clear their names.

Loving Audible for making it easier for me to utilize book time and immerse myself in good stories.
If you like old fashion mystery (Agatha Christie's style) but in more contemporary setting, then Agatha Raisin will keep you entertained. Personally I am more fascinated with the Cotswold's village life and characters rather than the actual murderous plots, which are nevertheless still mysterious but mostly very entertaining. And I just really like Agatha, she is very natural and ever so competitive. I have read quite a few books, and definitely prefer the audio version, sadly there aren't many audio books available. I would also love to see another screen adaption after the Quiche of Death, which was brilliant.
It had all seemed to be going so well, marriage to James at last within reach. Anyone who is a keen Agatha Raisin follower would have been waiting for the fall and, as always MCB makes it a big one, with extra stumbles to follow.
Penelope Keith, as ever, makes a smooth transition between narrative and character that means an easy listen.
I absolutely enjoyed it. I love Agatha Raisin series and would recommend it to anyone that looks for a light, funny and lively story with great characters.
The whole series got a fantastic story line with little twists and turns, very likeable characters and laugh out loud moments.
Penelope Keith is fantastic, engaging and so truthful to what I have imagined when I read few books from this series that now I really prefer it as an audio book than a 'normal' book!
absolutely! :) I actually sat in a car in a car park waiting for it to end, as I didn't want to wait until I return.
We need MORE unabridged Agatha Raising audio books. There are 25 books in this series, we want them ALL as audio books please!!!!
Alas, this is not as advertised. The length (less than two hours) should have alerted me - most of M.C. Beaton's books are around the five hour mark.
A true unabridged version!
There is no issue with Penelope Keith, she reads as well as she performs, which is pretty well.
Surprise and disappointment at not getting what I thought I had bought.
Please look carefully at your catalogue to see if there are any other accidental misrepresentations.
Probably my favourite performance from Penelope Keith as Agatha at her most vicious, biting best!
This is an abridged dramatization with two stories in four parts. Well performed by the cast.
Although I know these novels inside out, and the unabridged audios, these dramatisations never fail to please. A blissful hour or so of contented listening.
Not a complex plot by any means but a wonderful listen, full of witty one liners. Agatha brought to life.
