Fifteen years after the Painter case had been closed, someone wants the case re-examined, history changed, and Wexford proved wrong.

I am a huge Ruth Rendell fan as she is the first crime writer I discovered 20 years ago. I feel that her recent Wexfords have been very disapointing so thought it was about time I re read her earlier work. As I know the books so well and am unable to read at present I thought I would listen to the abridged versions. George Baker (Wexford on screen) reads this well and it is a gripping, easy listen. If you are new to Rendell I would definitely listen to the unabidged version as obviously a lot is missed out in this the abridged version. However if you are already familiar with this book or just want a comfy, quick listen you will still find that this illustrates why Ruth Rendell is the queen of crime!
