Summary

Nominated for the Audiobook Download of the Year, 2008.

When Lister got drunk, he really got drunk!

After celebrating his birthday with a Monopoly-board pub crawl around London, he came to in a burger bar on one of Saturns moons, wearing a lady's pink crimplene hat and a pair of yellow fishing waders, with no money and a passport in the name of "Emily Berkenstein".

Joining the Space Corps seemed a good idea. Red Dwarf, a clapped out spaceship, was bound for Earth. It never made it, leaving Lister as the last remaining member of the human race, three million light years from Earth, with only a dead man, a senile computer, and a highly evolved cat for company.

They begin their journey home. On the way, they'll break the light barrier. They'll meet Einstein, Archimedes, God, and Norman Wisdom...and discover an alternative plane of reality.

Laugh out loud

So funny, Chris Barrie is so good reading this. So well written, gives great back stories to the characters of the series. Listen to this over and over again.

A must for all sci-fi lovers.

This book and it's sequel have completely exceeded my expectations. As good as Hitchhiker's Guide!

Dwarfer!

Apart from the odd mispronounced word, this is exactly what I wanted and expected. I have the books, but easier to use the audible version whilst crushingly dull household chores get done! Have also purchased infinity welcomes careful drivers, just wish Backwards and Last Human were available too!

A perfect audiobook

Grew up loving the show. This reminded me why I did. Having Chris Barrie's narration is like listening to an audioplay. Tweaks to the story keep things fresh.

a more chronological red dwarf

if your looking for more red dwarf but with a story that connects together a bit more fully then this is the book for you. full of laughs and a decent story that spans the first 2 seasons of the TV show while going more into depth about Listers past and the adventure had 3 million years in the future on the red dwarf.

Chris Barrie 🙂

Brilliantly narrated with superb voices from the master. Agree with what someone else said about the annoying music between certain parts but it's a good listen.

Better Than Life

Lots of the classic stories you’ve probably already seen on tv now. But very well delivered and always great to hear. Nostalgia without doubt.

Worth a listen for sure.

Full of lore and pre episode 1 story!

Having watched the series for over 30 years at this point I feared this might of just been based on what we saw on the TV and possibly not grab my full attention due to knowing it scene for scene, but it's richness in lore and the humble beginnings of the characters pre series 1 episode 1 really kept me engaged! A great listen made all the more special with the amazing Chris Barrie narrating, he really sets the standard for what an audiobook narrator should be like. Fantastic!
