It's not easy being Satan. Thrown out of heaven, he is condemned for eternity to listen to Edith Piaf and Elvis Presley. Still, there are new arrivals to welcome: the Professor (James Grout), whose unerring optimism is a nasty blow and Thomas (Jimmy Mulville), one of the vilest people around. Andy Hamilton stars as Satan in the comedy that's satirical, philosophical, inventive, topical - and timeless.

I love this show. Series one introduces the Prof, as well as Scum Spawn and Thomas Crimp and the Devil himself. Following the adventures of Satan as he tries to convince the Professor that Hell is not just an illusion caused by a coma, each episode is full of gags and topical humour.
Some of the jokes may be a little dated but 9 out 10 hit the mark even today.
An absolute joy to listen to and cant wait to get the rest of this series.
Really enjoyed listening to this. Very funny and quite addictive.
Thomas is a wonderful character. I have met a few like him in my time. Satan and Gary hilarious and the professor so smug and fantastically annoying. I can really recommend it had me laughing out loud.
Super comedy, well crafted and well presented. In the episodes we discover that people we wouldn't expect to be are in hell, and God has a first name. The Devil tries very hard to convince a new resident that he really is in Hell.
One of the best I've listened to - and I listen time and again
I love the part where Thomas realises that he has arrived in hell
Andy Hamilton's "poker faced" (yes I know it's an audio book) delivery of some side splitting one liners is wonderful
I've listended to it in one sitting at least half a dozen times
Do buy it. And if you like it, buy the others
The genius of Andy Hamilton. There are seven series and a Christmas special, all absolutely first class. Superbly witty, brilliantly performed, a must-have for the collection.
It's Andy Hamilton's clever, and understated, humour.
Its unpretentious style means that you don't have to stress about missing a line or two, it still works.
I was disappointed that I couldn't find more audiobooks by Andy Hamilton - hope they have made some since.
Outstanding first series of comic genius Andy hamiltons comedy series.
Without doubt the Devil played by Mr Hamilton is the best character of the in the book.
His dry wit and sharp humour.
I did listen to it in one sitting!
I will have no hesitation to buy second series
Along with Cabin Pressure, Old Harry's game is one of the most superlative comedies to grace any format. Andy Hamilton's writing is pin sharp, satirical, and full of marvellous imagery. It is even, on occasion, incredibly touching.
Special note must be made of the performance of James Grout; his initial descent to hell, confrontation with God, and his reactions to his wife are all stand-out moments in this series. Similarly Jimmy Mulville is perfectly odious as Thomas Quentin Crisp.
This is the ideal start to this show, I guarantee that you will be unable to stop at simply one series!
