"Five uneven short stories. Two good. Three so so."

I've never seen any Crackanory TV tales. Not broadcast in my country. So this is my review solely based on this audiobook. No comparison to the TV show. No spoilers.

1: Kill Phil - Sort of a modernized internet slanted version of "Strangers on a Train". Good story idea. Enjoyable.

2: Mummy Business - Not very enjoyable. Story that goes nowhere really. Slight chuckle at the characters trouble saying Nefertiti correctly though.

3: The Character Assassin - The best of the stories. A creepy story that could have been a good Twilight Zone episode.

4: The Egg That Knew Too Much - A story that feels like a mix between Twilight Zone and Monty Python. Not very enjoyable though.

5: The IT-man - The least enjoyable story. Had a hard time focusing on the story at first. Then it was just... bad.

Narrators for all the stories was great. Lively and eminently listenable.

    "Utterly brilliant"

These short stories were reminiscent of Roald Dahl and Jeffrey Archer. Darkly twisted, well narrated.

    "Awful tripe"
Would you try another book written by Crackanory or narrated by the narrators?

    No

What was most disappointing about Crackanory’s story?

The ghastly blokey tenor, sheer inanity and woeful unfunniness of the 'stories'.

How could the performance have been better?

It was not the performance so much as the writing of the pieces

    Any additional comments?

I have no idea why actors of this calibre chose to read this drivel

"Quite entertaining, although a bit on the silly side"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It passed my journey to work and It was free!

Was FREE: Crackanory Too Cracked for TV - exclusive to Audible worth the listening time?

All I can say is that it was ok. It was free so can't complain. Most of the stories were a bit silly and very far fetched. Some reminded me of the Tales of the Unexpected series by Roald Dahl, but not as clever!
