Imagine if Jackanory was set free from its childish shackles. What twisted, funny tales would it unleash upon the world?
Each episode of Crackanory contains two 15-minute tales and is a master class in storytelling, combining some of the UK's best comedy writers and performers.

This collection of short stories had me hooked from the start, each one only lasts 15 minutes so they are really easy to finish and I got hooked from the first minute of each one, so its very easy to listen for hours. Great collection of stories, well worth a listen 😀
A brilliant collection of short stories for adults with intelligent and unexpected twists and turns throughout. Every story was a delight of clever humour making references to ever day situations and bringing them to life with an ingenious and often weird twist.
It's hard to complain about getting the vast majority of this series in audio form for free, especially as I quite enjoyed a fair bit of Crackanory when I could catch it on TV. Some stories weren't to my taste, be it because of narration and/or the story itself (certain stories I found far too predictable and thus were quite boring to listen to, when I could tell exactly what would happen at every point), but overall, as a fan of things like Tales of the Unexpected, I found this mix of TotU and Jackanory quite a fun idea, and so I was pleased to find I could properly own the stories and listen to them whenever I want, thanks to Audible.
That said, in each release provided by Audible (originally, it was Series 1 and 2 released together, as Series 3 was not out at the time, and we've since had Series 3 released and subsequently, a release compiling the Series 1 & 2 and Series 3 releases together), there have been some stories missing, which is a shame. For instance, from Series 1, the first story of what was Episode 3 on TV ("The Teacup has Landed", read by Harry Enfield) is missing, and from Series 2, both stories that comprised Episode 4 ("Self Storage", read by Johnny Vegas and "The Obituary Writer", read by Meera Syal) and the first story of Episode 5 ("The Untangler", read by Warwick Davis) are all missing. Despite this, Harry Enfield still has been advertised as being a narrator on each of the releases of Series 1 & 2 on Audible.
There is at least one bonus story that was not seen on TV, in the form of "Legs & Co.", as read by David Baddiel, which was a nice enough addition, but it still feels odd that at least four stories can be counted as missing, especially when at least one of them is readily advertised.
As mentioned, it's very hard to complain about these releases from Audible, when they give them away for free, as part of their deal and sponsorship with Crackanory, but it would be nice to know why these stories were omitted, and possibly get them released too.

"Fun, creative, and thought-provoking"
Thought-provoking with a wry smile. I love this and believe it will be a repeat go-to when I want to giggle and shift my thinking. The morals of some of the stories are hilarious. This was a great find.... And it was free from Audible! I would happily pay for more of these!
"Best collection of twisted tales I've ever heard!"
Finally a collection of short stories, wonderfully narrated, that are fresh and unique! I can't stop listening to them!

"Not my cup of tea."
There is enough cynicism & dark satire in life. I have no wish to willingly expose myself to more. I didn't listen to much of this, so others who enjoy drollery and don't mind the writer's stance may find it amusing, in the way I enjoyed The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy & other works by Douglas Adams.
Couldn't wait to get to the next story. Each one was captivating till the end. Loved the morals at the end for most of them. Favorite one, "Always carry a pen."
Each and every reader was perfectly suited to the story being told.
