The adventure continues. Tim and the C and C gang face their most difficult challenges yet. Horses die. Eyeballs are eaten. People are urinated on. A god is born.

Enjoyed the earlier books, however, the stuff with Dennis / Denise has taken the humour a bit to far into unnecessarily uncouth territory for my liking.
This 4th book is the weakest in the main storyline but still fun to "read". It suffers from less jokes that work and it jumps a lot between areas every few pages so the story isn't as well structured as the other 3.
Still liked it overall and looking forward to more from the author
Fantastic 4th instalment. Biggest problem with this audio book is the wait for the next instalment! Fantastic performance from the narrator and the story is what I have come to expect from the author. If you like your fantasy stories with a large dose of dark crude humour and a few surprises along the way then look no further! * this is the fourth book in the series (7th if you count the short story collections) and it's not really possible to jump in at this point, so don't wait, go back to the beginning and start from book one, you will fly though them!
All of them.
All of them.
Yes, yes, yes.
Why isnt Robert Bevan the President of the USA?
Do not fear a drop off in the funny.
This series continues to embarrass me at work. Not only do I laugh like a lunatic all day, but I also try to solve difficult problems by yelling HORSE! and running away.
Oh, the reader and production are excellent again, also.
"another fantastic installment"
the only downside of this series is when the book ends and you have to wait for the next one. I highly recommend this series as well as the side storied in the D6 series.
amazing book and amazing series. couldn't stop laughing. one of my favorite series by far.
"Thank you for another great story"
Robert Bevan and Jonathan Sleep bring this world to life with solid characters that have humanistic faults. You have one friend at least with one of these flaws in your life. Or maybe you don't have any real friends. Harsh, but reality is multifaceted like any real person.
It's awesome to see what everyone is up to and how cunning they use the mechanics of the game world. I wonder if we can expect 16 more to finish out the die, but we can expect at least 5 more ;-).
"Nothing says lovin' like helpin' your fellow man."
"Pinas everywhere (Giggity)"
It’s been a while but the wait was well worth it. Once again, Robert has brought me back to my teenage years and the stories are fantastic. We join our crew of C&C misfits (Dave, Tim, Cooper, Julian, Cat, Chaz, Stacy, and others) as they seek out Mordred after being thrust back into the realm of Cardinia.
What do you do when one of your characters brings about a new God into a realm which, prior to this encounter, had established rules and deities? Well, Randy is on a quest to find out as he is now the sole Paladin/holy man for the Jesus Christ within the realms.
Perhaps the most disturbing encounter in the book was with regards to Denise in the cellar of the Whore's Head Tavern. I won't spoil it, but it caught me by surprise during one of my evening runs.
There are many side stories within this fourth installment of the series and it keeps you drawn in to the same wonderful writing style which was present in the first three books (and three collections of short stories known as the D6 writings).
Robert is a master of the pen and has brought about another gem in the collection. Likewise, Jonathan Sleep is a fantastic narrator and is great with the various characters present in the story. Now, the wait for book five audiobook. An easily recommended book if you've ever played D&D.
"I'm still laughing after"
reading the whole series!!! And I LOL more times than I can remember. I love the new characters as much as the old ones. Reader does a great job, not just with character voicing but delivers the jokes perfectly. This series feeds my "inner Butthead". I love that this is a single story with a well developed plot line. Never gets old.
Bevan does it again!!!!!! Hilarious and exciting 4th installment to the caverns and creatures series. Jonathan Sleep narration is excellent as always.
"Robert Bevan and Jonathan Sleep ... Boom!"
I have been waiting for the Audible version of this book in the series for what feels like years... and let me tell you, it did not disappointment!! read this series... you will not regret it.. the narration is amazing, the writing it's awesome, everything works!! in this new genre this series is a trend setter! get it or miss out.
"A Dash of Poignancy is Added to the Puerile Soup"
Another great installment in the Critical Failures series! As always, if you aren't acquainted with the previous three books (as well as three short-story collections) stop reading this now and pick them up--they're awesome.
This book is by far the most mature and moving in the series so far, but manages not to sacrifice any of the immature, good-natured humor that makes the books so much fun to read. Although the cast of characters continues to expand, Robert Bevan still takes care to give more depth to a couple of his main characters. While the characters are by no means as developed as they might be in a more traditional fantasy novel, the author isn't content to let them remain cardboard cutouts. I appreciated this, although the ending left me feeling a little stung (which is NOT to say it was a bad ending, or that I didn't appreciate it--I can't say any more without verging further into spoiler territory).
VFIV had sort of an "Empire Strikes Back" feel to it, in that it tends to be a smidge darker than the previous books, and the characters are scattered throughout most of it and it ends with the sensation of an itch not quite satisfied.
This was a great installment in the series, and leaves no doubt that Bevin remains as interested in these characters and this world as we are.
Johnathan Sleep does a great job of narration, but if you've listened to the previous books, you probably already know that.
"Curse you Bevan"
Again Bevan writes another tale slam full of adventure, fantasy, action, intrigue, and then let some fool half orc piss all over it. Another great book. So again I say, Curse you Bevan for having me in the hook for the next installment.
