Like plenty before her, social worker Clare Barker has entered a caring profession so that she can sort out other people's problems rather than deal with her own. A control freak, Clare likes nothing better than interfering in other people's lives on both a professional and personal basis, while at the same time finding it a trial having to put up with tiresome members of the public. Politically correct, humourless, and prone to jargon, she is entirely lacking in self-awareness, making her encounters with colleagues, family, and her partner, Brian, wonderfully entertaining and richly comic.

"Wildly funny." (Sunday Times)
"The sharpest script I've heard for years." (The Observer)
The characters are so much fun and the performances are brilliant.
If you enjoyed Cabin Pressure than you will love this series as well. Just started series 2 and so far found it just as much fun.
Brilliant, one of my favourite comedies. Sally Philips is fantastic in this role but I can't single her out; the rest of the cast are just as fantastic.
Clare in the Community Series 1: My sister recently sent me this CD and I found myself laughing out loud in the street while listening on my i-pod. It sucks you right in from the beginning with strong narrative drive and great characterisation which plays on social stereotypes, while gently satirising social workers, teachers and the more ludicrous aspects of our increasingly PC world. Sally Phillips, who was so good in the TV series Smack the Pony, is perfect as the self-obsessed social worker bemused by her lack of popularity and oblivious to the needs of her long-suffering partner, Brian, her work colleagues and her clients. Her handling of her student Megan is hilarious, if slightly troubling! I?m definitely hooked and will be signing up for the subsequent series.
History lover, Amateur dramatic and tea drinker.
This is so endearing and cute. The characters are all sweet and very funny, I never ever feel like i'm bored or not being entertained. It's narrative so there is a story to follow and You do feel like these characters are being followed around by the proverbial fly on the wall.
The delightful menage-a-trois between Clare, Brian and Megan, that only exists for one or perhaps 2 of the characters. Helen's promiscuity and laziness.
This is one of the best performances
Radio comedy can do things that just aren't possible in any other format. The sixth episode of this series is a masterwork of comic writing and acting.
This is very funny, and not just because Sally Philips is in it, although she is superb. The rest of the cast is also very good and the jokes come thick and fast without overdoing the audio gags and the double entendres. The writing is very tight and has some very clever digs at middle class prejudices and moral panics. Even social workers will find plenty to laugh at!
This is a very funny series. The acting is excellent and the script improves with every series. I admit I will laugh at almost anything but this made me laugh out loud. Please bring out Series 8. It is achingly funny.
"Not bad, just not laugh-out-loud funny"
A decent enough listen to pass the time, it just wasn't as funny as I hoped.
"Awesome for Laughter!!"
The story, the character's personalities, listening and imagining the scenarios. Great radio presentation.
The whole thing, particularly with Brian
Glad there are more series to enjoy
