Summary

This classic short story by beloved author Edgar Allan Poe features a deeply dark undercurrent as it is told by a storyteller who has been dead for many centuries. We can't know all that happened, but there is much to consider: plague, separation from humanity, and the oppression of man.

This story can be understood only when considering that the storyteller could not be expected to know how to describe everything due to the passage of time. Perhaps that's what makes the story one with a wealth of material to consider.

Narrated by Glenn Hascall.
