Who has not dreamed of life on an exotic isle, far away from civilization? Here is the novel that has inspired countless imitations by lesser writers, none of which equal the power and originality of Defoe's famous book. Robinson Crusoe, set ashore on an island after a terrible storm at sea, is forced to make do with only a knife, some tobacco, and a pipe.
He learns how to build a canoe, make bread, and endure endless solitude. That is, until, 24 years later, when he confronts another human being. First published in 1719, Robinson Crusoe has been praised by such writers as James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, and Samuel Johnson as one of the greatest novels in the English language.

The book is great, but it is spoilt by a dull reader. I will certainly not buy anything read by this narrator again.
Lots. It is a super book.
Having it read by someone with more life in his voice.
A different narrator would bring the book to life.
This book was on a list of must reads... maybe it was just the narrator but this was a bit of a struggle. One day i might try again with a physical copy.
The parrot.... In fact I think Castaway's Wilson was a more interesting character than Man-Friday.
While Alan Munro has a nice voice to listen to (Thus having more than 1 star), I found his cadence to be annoying at best. It seemed like this was his first read though and he might as well have been reading a shopping list with lack of passion he put into this.
"the narrators voice could cure insomnia"
ive read the book a few times in the past its a great story but this narrator can talk you to sleep if i didnt love the book so much i wouldn't have finnished it
Narration is awfully difficult to follow. Bizarre pauses in the middle of sentences and emphasis on random words throughout.
"Great Old-fashioned Adventure"
I enjoyed the story but had a hard time with the narration. Is the narrator computer generated?
awesome story great narrorator. it was a thought intertaining adventure i highly recommend buying this
I could only get through the first two chapters of this book with this narrator. I did not enjoy the narrator's style of reading. too many pauses mid sentence. I felt like it was a robot reading. It was painful to listen to. I had to stop this version and purchase the book with another narrator.
"A Classic "
I would probably recommend getting a different version with a better narrator, but I still enjoyed the story.
Good story but the narrator's manner of reading is very annoying with odd halting throughout the reading that keeps the story from flowing.
"classically classic story. good narrator."
this is a story about a man named jed. a poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed. then one day he was shooting at some food and up from the ground came a bubbling crude. oil that is. black gold. Texas tea. well the next thing you ol jeds a millionaire. kin folk said move away from there. said californi is the place you ought be. so he loaded up his truck and moved to beverly. hills that is.
"No complaints with the audio...easy to follow"
Clear, concise and easy to follow. Great story. Interesting how openly racist we were then lol
"not worth it"
I have no idea why this is a classic. also, the "s" sounds are extremely harsh and not pleasant to hear.
